Rock Band 2 Wii compatible with Guitar Hero World Tour instuments
Tuesday, December 9th, 2008 at 11:55pm by Jake
IGN’s recent preview has confirmed that all Guitar Hero World Tour peripherals (guitar, drums, mic) are fully compatible with the final copy of Rock Band 2 for the Wii.
…We were also very pleased to find that peripherals for both Guitar Hero III and Guitar Hero World Tour worked with Rock Band 2…
…Red Octane’s Guitar Hero: World Tour instruments worked like a charm, save for their own peculiarities and the fact that the drum kit is different than Rock Band’s. The Guitar Hero kit has one extra orange pad, of course, so that one is ignored here. Drumming feels a little awkward on these peripherals simply because the pads are arranged differently, but once your mind has made the adjustment it won’t be a problem…
IGN goes on to confirm online play, DLC, and more. Expect to pick up Rock Band 2 for Wii on December 22.
I know I will be picking up just the disk…anyone with me?

Meh, those games are over rated, plus the plastic instruments are cumbersome and take up space.

But they take up less space when you can share them across multiple games
.
With this news, I’ll be picking up RB2 for sure. I probably wouldn’t have if I needed to buy and use another drum set, since the GH:WT one is so much better. But RB2 definitely has the edge in downloadable content library of awesome songs.

H to the Y!
Definitely. Finally, Rock Band/Harmonix/EA/MTV get that Wii owners freakin’ count!

Oooo, I might have to pick up RB2 now. I wasn’t going to before, but this makes it more interesting. I’ll wait until I see it for a cheaper price, but down the road for sure.
I just got GH: WT and those songs are plenty fresh for the time being. But Bravo to the people of Rock Band for making the game compatible, if that was what the delay was for, well worth it.

I’ll be picking it up now. I wouldn’t have before. Good call harmonix.

I’ll be getting the disc! Guitar parts aren’t as difficult on RB as they are on GH, but it sure will make it easier NOT to fail while singing.

Will it work with the GHIII guitars? (I’m guessing it will.)
I still need to get a drum kit. I wonder which will sell the drum controller alone first…

GAH! Then I can’t wait for my winnings to arrive!

YES!!!!!!
This is phenomenal news. I will absolutely be buying Rock Band 2 now.

It will be interesting to see if, now that Harmonix has successfully made the effort to support all instruments, Activision/Vicarious Visions will be patching GHWT to work with RB instruments. I hope that will be the case, but I’m not holding my breath.
December 10th, 2008 at 3:25 pm
Don’t think they’ll patch it since it seems that the support on RB 2 for GH: WT instruments was worked into the final disk and not as an extra patch itself.

Totally!
December 10th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Wootness, now I only need to buy the game instead of the other band kit.
December 10th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
defiantly!!
December 10th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
Sweeeet. Definitely picking the disc up now.
There was no way i was ending up with 2 sets of instruments – ridiculous.

Already put it on my Amazon wish list. I wish that RB1 worked too…
