Matt’s Crazy Hair makes its ABC World News debut, reviews Brawl

Matt Casamassina reviewed Brawl for ABC World News. Watch the review, or don’t … you know the game is great! The big story here is that ABC World News showed a video game review. That’s not a very typical occurrence (if ever). This game is going to be absolutely huge!

It would be nice if this is an indicator of the future. Gaming is pretty big and finding a place in a crowd that didn’t have any interest earlier.
That they use a professional gaming journalist is what is most impressive in my opinion, it shows that they have some respect for the games.

What’s newsworthy is this isn’t some Wii Sports type game that’s getting national media coverage, it’s a more “traditional” game for the dedicated gamer sect. The Wii in this case could be seen as a Trojan Horse, which has managed to use its casual, fun for all appeal (built up by games like Wii Sports) to get a game like Brawl in front of a wider audience.

I love how you put the absolute worst screencap of Matt as the image for your article. ;D
In any case, I’ll watch it later.
And, as dlindema said: Word, Jack.

Not as much a review as an introduction to the game for all the people out there who don’t really know what it is, but for that purpose it’s good, Matt did a nice job. The “intoxicating” comment is probably going to upset some people with sticks up their asses, though. *waits for onslaught of thousands of soccer moms*

Jack:
That’s true too I guess. In Sweden we have almost nothing concerning games in the mainstream media. That you’re getting an actual news report about a “real” game and with a real gaming reporter seems pretty spectacular.
I guess it was just a matter of time though since the limits of games with every day and because of that they can appeal to more people all the time. I truly believe that gaming will keep expanding and make vision easier and easier to bring to life and thus bring more diversity and deeper experiences with time.

Would it have killed Matt to invest in a comb or a brush?
It doesn’t help that the stereotypical face of video gamers is an unkempt, unwashed slacker. It’s already easy to stereotype gamers. Don’t do it FOR them.

@Jeff
Oh come on… But yeah i wouldn’t call it a review. Great intro nonetheless.

No way, Lifeisaglitch. If he was on national TV, he had to have gone through makeup before going on air. That means he specifically asked for the lady to not do anything to him in order to keep this “sweaty, just-rolled-out-of-bed” idiot look.
Thanks for reinforcing the stereotype.

It’s okay for him to look like he just got out of bed it’s in fashion right now at least in Europe. Here you can find rich brats that look like they’ve never combed their hair.
