Review Roundup: Mario Party 8, Mortal Kombat Wii, Diner Dash DS
Tuesday, May 29th, 2007 at 11:48pm by Boss Hog
Here’s some recent reviews of new(er) games you may or may not be interested in:
- Mario Party 8 (66%) - “Played alone, against the computer, the game is barely worth popping out of its case. But, having even one other human opponent ups the fun exponentially–you just can’t get the same satisfaction out of trash talking against a faceless computerized enemy.”
- Mortal Kombat Armageddon (75%) – “Get two people together and it’s damn good fun! Fans should not be disappointed.”
- Diner Dash (63%) – “It’s brilliant because it presents a slick and fast-paced management puzzle within firm boundaries and rules that manages to teach the player all of its lessons before he or she gets bored and moves on.”
Any Infendo owners of the above care to chime in with your take?

The Big N needs to put the Mario Party Franchise to rest.
Or at least, a long delay till the next game. It seems the Wii controls are not enough to make the game fresh, to bad.

Come on, isn’t this game called “PARTY”?? who the fuck plays alone? This Wii stuff is turning these lonely game reviewers into losers.

^seconded.
MK:Armaegeddon was a game I have been waiting to come out for a while now. I might pick it up if I can get it for a good price. Mario Party looks to be a blast as usual but I’ll probably wait for the next one so they can get rid of some of the said issues. I might rent it for a party. I heard Diner Dash has really good music but I know nothing about it.

Where are these reviews coming from?
Just give us the typical out of 10 NP and IGN give us.
(mk 8.0 from both ign & NP)
(mp 7.5 from NP and 6.5 from ign)

CORRECTION: Mario party got a 5.2 from ign. My bad.
My opinion: mario party is getting the same feeling game after game, but it still so darn fun. If you’ve got friends that chill at your house often, this is a great game to have.

I was really interested in MK Armaggedon on Wii when the demo videos started coming out months ago… I am STILL interested! But I think I’ll wait a bit, since I got too many games for my DS right now that I really want to get through.
I will pick up MK in a month or so, I think…

I too think it’s time they shift the Mario Party series in a big way. Every game is the same, just variations on basically the same mini-games. That being said, I will still be getting this game, since this is one of the few games that my wife plays with me.

I believe that you just can’t leave Wii reviews to the same people who review 360 or ps3 games because they’re already going to approach it with a sort of bias, or a ” this is supposed to be revolutionary and it has to blow my mind” The casual gamers think completely different, in the way that they play games in the first place, and also for the reason they play.
For now, I really think Nintendo are catering majority of their attention to casual gamers, the mothers, the busy people, the grandparents. Even in the design of the system itself, wasn’t meant to be played over an extremely length of time, in a way proves that it’s meant for that quick gamer itch remedy. At least for now, until Nintendo gets their foot in the door with this new hardware, think about it, Nintendo or anyone has never really went in this direction and really flew. So they’ve got to take it slower than usual, and when it’s certain, get serious.
Which is why I still think, that the Wii was sent out to be a sacrifice console for Nintendo, to test the waters with this console. Which I think is the true reason for the lack of power. But then again I can be sprouting a lot of mess.
Anyways my two cents..Before I write a book…-_-;;;

I got Mario Party 8 yesterday and was playing the one player mode and I would agree, it would be a lot more fun playing with others. Gonna try that out this weekend. But overall I love the game.
