For us, Ultimate Band was a best-in-show among the E3’s Rock Band wannabes. That’s a backhanded compliment, but for its intended 8 to 12 demographic, this game is brilliant. It scales up smoothly from simple to complex gameplay and faithfully captures the spirit of a rock performance. It’s also a much cheaper alternative to buying a slew of new instruments, or watching in horror as your existing peripherals are gradually torn apart by tiny hands.
