Poll – would you buy a Wii in a new color?
Wednesday, December 17th, 2008 at 1:50pm by DavidWhen it was first shown to us a few years back, the Wii wasn’t just white. Two years since its release, we’re still colorless. DS on the other hand has had too many different paint jobs to keep them all straight. So just out of curiosity, whether or not you already own one, we ask:
If Nintendo released new colors for Wii, would you buy one?
Tell us your thoughts in comments.

i’d buy a different color only if i didn’t own a wii, but it would really depend on the color choices.

I would trade in for a black one, but only if matching Wii-motes and Nunchucks were available.

I put no simply because I don’t know what would happen with all the VC games I’ve downloaded to my white one. Can anyone give some details on buying a new Wii and how Nintendo handles your DLC?

I wouldn’t want to spend the money, I’d worry about my VC and WiiWare titles, and frankly, I really like the white.

At first I thought this was a useless poll, but now I see its actually quite helpful in determining brain damage. He would spends $250 + for the same machine in a different color has some serious issues. Why not take that money and spend it on 200 bottles of Guinness instead?

I’d still buy the white one even if I didn’t have a Wii. The color suits the design best.

It depends, the question is not specific. Are we talking about people who already own one? Kind weird to buy another Wii if you have one just because the color has changed.

To be honest, I wouldn’t buy a new Wii just for the color, but I would’ve bought a silver Wii at launch because it looked hot (and I loved my silver Gamecube).

I already have a Wii, so no.

Missing a third option:
Hell no

I’ve grown to love the sterile white console, and its blue slot.
It looks so serene sitting across from my (currently 4 years old) iMac.

If I was to buy a new one then I will probably get a color one but I’m not going out of my way buying one just because the color is cooler.

It’s hard to believe so many people said yes. I mean, if you’re really dying to have your Wii a different why not paint it yourself or pay someone to do it for you? Either way it would be a lot cheaper than buying a whole new Wii, plus you could make it just the way you want it. Mind you, removing the case to paint it voids the warranty. But if it breaks just go buy another (possibly colored) one. You were already planning on buying a new one anyways…

Initially when it was still the Revolution, I wanted a black one. But now that I already have one there’s no point in spending another $250 just for a paint job, especially for a system I use very infrequently as of now. So, no.
December 17th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
I own one, and, no, I wouldn’t buy another. If I wanted a new color, I’d buy a case online and mod it myself (or just paint my own case)
December 17th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
but man would i want one.

I have a Golden Twilight skinned Wii and it looks great.
I would recommend Decalgirl if you want a different colored Wii by skinning it.

Since my seems to be threatening with dying soon thanks to Brawl, I just might end up having to buy a new one and a cool color would be nice. AT LEAST the wiimotes.

There would probably be one I wanted – I always wanted the tribal and NES GBA Sp’s for example – but I couldn’t justify buying a new console just for the colour.
Having said that unless a decent storage issue is sorted out it would probably be cheaper to buy another one than shelling out for endless SD cards.

Since I’m in Latin America and we DON’T have REAL support from the big N regarding many aspects such as support and price (Imagine Mario Kart Wii costs U$110 here in Colombia), I’ll stick to my WiiWare and VC games.
December 18th, 2008 at 9:04 am
If buying a Wii for the first time, I probably wouldn’t pick white… but I wouldn’t replace mine now that I own one.
People also have a good point that transferring your account (Virtual Console/WiiWare/etc) from one Wii to the other wouldn’t be easy.
December 18th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
No, but I would buy controllers in new colors.
December 18th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
No way man. First, the white Wii looks so goooooooooood……….
And since there’s been a bunch of mods popping up online that usually cost less than the console itself, why bother?
Heard of Morpheon Mods? Nintendo Power’s given them some good rep. And the mods look badass too. I’d think about it if I was you people complaining about the white.
