Strange poll, bars on the right and the answers are biased towards someone who doesn’t finish them often, 10%, 25-50% and then 100%? I’m closer to 75% but voted 100%

I agree, this pull is biased. It needs more choices. I voted 100% also, but that’s not correct.

So, there was no option for “Usually”, which would be 50 – 99% of the time.

Usually, if I buy them, I go till the end. Sometimes it may happen something like TP, that I encountered the dreaded cannon room bug and got stuck, and was too disgusted to start all over again. But I will, eventually.

I’m really bad about finishing games. I either have to LOVE it, like Okami, Zelda or Galaxy, or be really determined to see the ending, like Tomb Raider Anniversary.

My first run is usually just a regular run, then I go back and get all the items for 100%. Then I like to play through the game again and devise a route to get 100% completion at the best possible times. For example, you can get the 5000 rupee heart piece in Majora’s Mask as soon as you become regular link, but it’s better to wait till later when you have light arrows and you can kill all the bubbles in the field for 50 rupees a piece.

I just finished Metroid Prime and it was a launch day purchase for me!
Now I just need a few decades to finish Prime 2, 3, and Hunters.

Yeah… This poll needs a do-over. I’m something like 80%.
Regarding the unfinished games, I either ended up not liking them, or I picked up something else and never got back into it.

I dont finish games 100 % as often as I used to.
Not unlesss they are epic games.
I usually play games now with online multiplayer, or co-op.
So finishing a game 100 % is less important now

I would be another 75% person, but it’s way closer to 100% than it is 50%, so that is the way I voted.

Zoomed out on the Wii browser the it looks like the poll is asking “How often do you play Tingle player games through to the end?”.
I picked the lowest answer. It may be a bit more, butI know it’s not most.

I’d say I’m closer to the 80-90% range. There’s been a few games I don’t finish but only because of their length (or in a few rare cases because I’ve beat it so many times that I just lose interest).
FF7 is probably the biggest game I’ve “never finished”, but I don’t care. Instead I bought FF6 and am beating it again on my DS (this will probably be the 4th or 5th time).

I would say I’m around 90%, but I don’t consider “through to the end” to be 100% completion. I take it to mean through the whole story.

More like 80% for me.. Though for some reason, recently I’ve found myself stopping playing long games right before I reach the end, FF3 I got to crystal palace but never finished it, FFX-2 I jumped down the cavern to get to the final boss but I never finished it.. I only recently went back to finish FF7: Crisis Core and Metroid Prime 3. Still, the majority of games, especially if it has Mario or Zelda in the title I’ll often complete them in just a few long sittings and then do it again several times.

I agree with you guys, I’m probably at 75% but I had to vote 100% because there wasn’t a better option.

Perhaps they just forgot one of the options?
Maybe they just made it like this to get a better spread or something since almost everyone would have voted for the option they left out.

Another 80-90% completionist… but I voted 100% because that’s closer to the truth than any of the other options.

wait are you asking A) do we complete the game with 100% of items, secrets, etc or B) what percent of single player games we own do we finish all the way through regardless of completion statistics? i only ask because it seems like some people responded to A). i believe it was the B) so i voted 75% – 100%. when i buy a single player game that is my main goal to beat the game and view the ending. the game would have to be unreasonably hard or just a piece of crap for me not to finish on my investment. i need closure for all my games

The current exception is Metar Gear Solid 3 on that is on indefinite hold.

I used to finish the single player parts ofalmost every game I buy, except sports games……and Shadow of the Colossus :S (I don’t know why I lost my motivation with that game)

I didn’t finish that one either. I really enjoyed the first and then the second was more of the same but the storyline was worse and you had to play as a whiny sissy. Sadly the third game continued the trend of more of the same and had an even worse story then the second so I grew tired of it after a few hours.

I almost NEVER finish my games! So, when I actually do finish one, it is a BIG deal for me. I think I have finished less than a dozen games in my entire gaming life! And by “finish” I mean get to the main ending, not completing the side quests or extended challenges. The only two exceptions have been [i]Rayman 2[/i] on Dreamcast (got ALL lumens!) and [i]Halo[/i] (finished it on Legendary and found all easter eggs!) on Xbox.

I voted twice. I normally do about 75~80%, so I did the old ’sometimes’ and the new ‘usually.’

I almost always finish all my single players games, though a lot of times I’ll take a huge break in the middle of playing a game if I get stuck.

I guess it would matter how you define “…to the end.” I don’t think I’ve ever finished a game *completely* (maybe one or two when much younger), but I don’t feel I’ve gotten my monies worth unless I play a game through to the ending credits. And does it count if I have a huge backlog which I am slowly working through?
