I voted no, but it probably wasn’t all that accurate. I didn’t have much in the way of expectations for this e3, but Nintendo barely delivered anything at all, so for what little I was expecting, Nintendo didn’t reach. I figured Kid Icarus and a teaser for a new Zelda, Mario, or Starfox title would show, and they didn’t.

  2. Ridgecity says...

It met my expectations. They are focusing on the new audience and putting the spotlight at that type of gaming. games for nintendo fans will be announced later and taking a backseat for now.

  3. ejamer says...

A lot of people complaining, but not many clearly articulating about where Nintendo fell short (other than not meeting some unfounded and often silly fanboy expectations). Some big games were shown, some cool new hardware teased, and way more meaningful exclusives were mentioned than in the MicroSoft presentation*.

*Sony is mid-conference so I can’t really compare their presentation. However, after 30 minutes they’ve said “the best is yet to come”, talked about being “futureproof” and shown Resistance 2 gameplay. Hmm… same old same old?

  4. Paul says...

Meh. The biggest news for me was the attachment for the Wiimote . . . and that they let known yesterday.

  5. Ptolemy says...

    Storage.

  6. Wii Wii says...

A few interesting things this year ,but overall it was disappointing.
Nintendo did not impress this year @ E3.

Neither did Microsoft or Sony, so this would have been a GREAT time for Nintendo to blow off the roof with a few massive announcements, which they did not.
    No Zelda tease.
    No big third party games.
    No Kid Icarus.
    No starfox.
Animal crossing looks decent, but we knew it was coming a long time ago.

Lack luster e3 from the Big N.

  7. Richter says...

From the looks of it, none of the big 3 delivered much of interest. The PS presentation looks to be the lamest of all. Resistance 2 looked so ridiculously cliched in terms of both gameplay and presentation, I gave it a pass pretty quickly. Is it mandatory now that whenever a huge creature appears to fight an army, a stupid pilot has to fly close and get his plane smashed to demonstrate how gargantuan and powerful said generic creature is? LittleBigPlanet looks good, but it’s been in the public eye for some time. Right now they’re demoing a Ratchet and Clank game called, I kid you not, Quest for Booty. Not exactly lighting the world on fire. E3 sure isn’t what it used to be, but that’s the direction it’s been going for a while.

I said no, because me and my friend were looking for more memor-wii (if you catch my drift, also a stupid pun). I was also hoping for at least one decent third-party title, and I basicley could predict Animal Crossing for the Wii. Wanted Kid Icarus for the Wii, though.

  9. Fool Throttle says...

    voted no, with gusto.

I thought the whole show was awkward and embarassing – Cammie should not be demonstrating software.

The wii music thing really baffled me as awkward – the timing looked clumsy.

The wiimote accuracy thing – didn’t we all think it could do the things they showed in wii sports resort already?

No wii fit software, kid icarus, zelda. No major enhancements to the Wii console, no firmware for the DS, no wiiware demo capabilities.

    Pokemon rangers? Come on…..

Animal Crossing looked cute, but Wii Speak?

Also – what happened to all the games that were going to use the DS and the Wii together?

I did love the Call of Duty game and the song share for Guitar Hero on tour.

But overall, this conference was like watching a baby dragging behind a buick. It horrified me and broke my heart. Having been to three of these press conferences (between ‘04 and ‘06) this was the quietest audience I’ve ever heard at a Nintendo E3 conference.

I can’t believe there is still no date on Home. Still hoping Sony provides more support for their camera peripheral later (they wouldn’t mention that in the keynote, though).

  11. ResidentialEvil says...

Gotta say no. I found their presentation boring and there really wasn’t much that even interested me.

I much more enjoyed yesterday’s, but I am biased since RE5 is THE game I want to play.

  12. Atlantis1982 says...

Yes it met my expectations which was nothing. :)

  13. yuoma says...

I know we love ninty and all, but can we ever admit when we’re disappointed, huh ejamer?

this is i love the wii. if it had been by anyone else i would still love it. but i got this system for the games. so far i’ve been happy with mario gallagy. zelda was kinda meh. and even though i loved brawl it did not get half the play time melee did.

how many of their promises (the reasons you bought your wii) have been fulfilled? you enjoying your wii connect 24?

  14. Laird HexDSL says...

I voted yes. nintendo showcased the motion+ thingy, that is going to open the 3rd party games right up with a boom. and its packaged with the new WiiSports, WOW great choice there.

then theres wii music, lack of details YES. BUT i bet its going to be the best party game ever. and to all those people giving the N bad vibes over wii music, think of this, whne you first saw Guitar hero did you instantly say ‘wow’ or was you in the camp of ‘that looks soo stupid’ most people thought it was stupid i did, so did my wife and she is a guitar her junkie now.

then theres the voice thingy, WOW i know its late but HEY ITS HERE NOW. and as logn as at some point in the next few days reggie sticks his head out and yells ‘also you can use the SD card for VC and WiiWare now, forgot to mention that’ then i am a happy happy hippy!

  15. ResidentialEvil says...

I’m perplexed as to why this new motion attachment is suddenly going to make 3rd parties start getting the program.

  16. ZarkSeven says...

I voted Yes, because I didn’t feel that Nintendo had a lot to prove this year. I thought Sony had to hit one out of the ballpark (they didn’t), but it’s hard to argue “more of the same” from Nintendo when they are on such a roll. I think if things start slowing down over the next year, then they may have something to prove at next year’s E3, and I would expect more then.

The Wiimote addon ought to answer critics of the Wiimote’s accuracy. I’m looking forward to Animal Crossing so that was good news (if not unexpected). Wii Music looks like an interesting take on the music genre. Wii Speak is different… I don’t know how well that will play out in my house full of kids, but it’s a unique take.

I didn’t expect anything more on Wii Fit, or a new Zelda, or a redesigned DS or Wii. The only thing I was hoping for that wasn’t discussed was storage. But I wasn’t confident I’d hear that either, so I can’t really say that they didn’t meet my expectations because of it.

I’d definitely say they met my expectations. They didn’t exceed my expectations, but they met them.

  17. Charbax says...

Iwata said he didn’t want to show more then 3 games at the conference. Nintendo will unveil and showcase many more games on the showfloor tomorrow.

The MotionPlus means we’ll see many fantastic games using full 3D 1:1 controls within the next 6 months. WiiSpeak means we’ll see voice-chat features in games also within the next 6 months.

Wii Music is 100 times better then Guitar Hero, Rock Band and any other existing music game. Wii Music gives you real creativity in a music game, while the other music games on the market just want to measure how correct you can follow guidelines for rythm. Music should not be about reading notes (in the case of Guitar Hero and Rock Band, you only have 4 notes you can play on), with Wii Music, you are fully free to play as you wish. I just hope Nintendo offers ways to compose full orchestra music and then conduct ones own compositions. Hopefully the MotionPlus can be used to increase the precision of playing all the instruments. It could be nice perhaps with a multiplatform online music composition tool to use on the PC, then access your compositions within Wii Music. Share your performances and compositions online as well. This could be so huge it could generate musical creativity in the society.

  18. ResidentialEvil says...

Wow, do you work for Nintendo?

  19. Richter says...

I used to work for Nintendo and not even I can claim I wrote something that biased on behalf of the big N before.

  20. yuoma says...

there can be no “musical creativity” if you can’t mess up. this is the musical version of a shooting game on tracks. you just follow the line, and make believe you’re doing something, when in fact it only plays a pre recorded set of notes…

nintendo’s trying really hard to make me hate them.
