I have tried at least 4 other Nintendo/Vide Game themed podcasts. Yours is the best.

You stick (mostly) to the material you want to cover. You don’t over do it. And the commentary is genuine. Even if you go on tangents…I find myself normally taking that tangent with you.

It’s my Monday morning (Tuesday lately…) fix!

    Keep it up guys.

I’m a fan of Infendo Radio. Recent eps are a bit short, though. 45-60 mins is a good length.

  3. Jim says...

    Why, YES!

If you just kept your promises and made it every week happen ;-)

  4. Kevin says...

I used to listen to it quite a bit, and it was my favorite podcast. Over the last few months it has taken a turn for the worse while others have improved their game – and now I find I haven’t even listened in probably 6 weeks.

For the record, my favorite podcast is Joystiq, so look there if you’re interested in benchmarking a competitor. My decline in listening has several factors: it’s partly production values, partly lack of good humor (opinion), but a lot also has a lot to do with Nintendo themselves. Back when Metroid and Galaxy were topics of discussion it was easy to tune in, but I can’t get excited about some recent games, much less listen to a podcast devoted to it.

It’s like car dealerships – when the company doesn’t have cars consumers want to buy, people don’t come. I may come back once better games come out.

Came up with another thought. Since Scott left, I feel like the hosts are too Nintendo specific and don’t play other consoles. I realize this is a Nintendo podcast, but experience with the other consoles can lend some perspective to the discussion.

I used to be an avid listener but I have recently moved and I don’t have much of a commute so it makes podcasts hard to listen to. Also, I do agree with some of Kevin’s points. I think you guys do a good job but I do miss Scott and Blake. In essense, Infendo radio has changed and it will take some time to get used to. Maybe you need some new segments.. like the contests that you used to do.

At the end of the show you could ask a quiz question or play a song that we have to guess. We can just play for points, there don’t have to be real prizes (maybe occasionally).

Just a suggestion, I will try to listen more often.. one of the things I do love about this podcast (and always have) is that its shorter than the rest. I can sit down and listen to it at the computer if I want. Which helps since I am not in the car an hour a day like I used to be.

  7. STFUppercut says...

    Ditto with Kevin. =(

  8. John says...

i listen and enjoy your radio show. just as long as you guys dont go a complaining-spree, it’s enjoyable to listen to :)

  9. Joltman says...

I’ve tried many other podcasts relating to Nintendo, and I’ve found that yours is definitely the best.
You stick to the topic at hand, and as I listen, you guys have that utmost sincerity about what you believe – you’re not acting at all.
Your podcast is definitely about Nintendo and FOR Nintendo.
Meaning you’re not podcasting to dis Nintendo or to show that Nintendo is weak compared to its competitor, you’re showing Nintendo is definitely the best.
For me, an hour is the best length of time for a podcast, with the exception being a person just updating the people with an E3 experience.

Anyways, keep up the good work!

I listen to each one, but holy cow KEVIN is right on. I DO miss that old-school and other-console perspective. Scott wasn’t afraid to diss and praise Sega, Sony, 3DO, whatever. Plus he’s hilarious and he loved the word Poop. Please have the guy back as a guest host sometime. So funny.

Your show is good though, you guys have a hard job since the Wii/DS has released the glory games already so the anticipation is a little different. Keep it up.

  11. deepthought says...

used- no time anymore. maybe when i settle again i’ll get a chance, but it generally felt like a headline recap anyways.

  12. Jaime says...

School has been eating up a TON of my time, so I’m not listening to ANY right now (I used to listen to Buzz Out Loud, ELR & Infendo). Though…I must say without Scott, you’re going to have a hard time getting me to listen again. I still check the blog pretty frequently, but the podcast not so much. :-\

  13. Used Cisco says...

Not as much anymore. I used to think Scott was annoying, but now I kind of miss him.

I like the new guys too, but it’s clear they are still learning. Everyone sounds so sleepy now. The show has lost a lot of it’s energy. Except for Kyle who sounds like he has picked up a bad meth habit or something. Slow down when you talk dude! Srsly.

  14. rawmeatcowgirl says...

    i voted 3 tims

  15. julian says...

I have listened to infendo radio ever since it first came out and it still rocks! I listen to it every night before I sleep.

  16. samfish says...

    No, I don’t.

But in fairness, I don’t listen to any other podcasts, either.

  17. Dwain says...

I’ve been listening to Infendo for a year or so now, and I’ll keep listening.

    A couple of notes/questions:

    - What happened to emails and phone calls? Do you guys just not get them every week?
    - I like the idea of a standard format for your shows – poll, news, new game get, contributors, emails/calls. I really did like the “open forum” you guys did several episodes ago.
    - Production seems to be coming back up since the big change, but I will say that some “little things,” like the “New Game Get!” audio sting are sadly missed in the last few episodes. Those little touches make it seem more like a “show” and less like a “recording.”

Like I said, I really like your podcast and I’ll keep listening! Just thought I’d pass along some thoughts and questions.

  18. Roddy says...

Yeah, I listen to it every week, but I agree with the others who miss Scott. And Kyle’s “interesting, interesting” sound like he’s not paying attention at all. :D

  19. Dave L says...

Reading the website is fix enough for me.

  20. Paul says...

I listen to 6-8 gaming podcast a week (including 1up, EGM, Gamers with Jobs, DS Life, Giant Bomb, Game Theory, Sarcastic Gamer, and formerly IGN and Gamespot), and I’ve been listening to Infendo Radio since episode 21. It was toward the top of my list for a long time. But unfortunately, it’s become lower on my list since the transition.

The chemistry that Scott, Blake, and then Kyle had was great. While it took a couple shows for Kyle to get his rhythm, the 3 made a good combo. With Scott gone and Blake in and out, finding a rhythm for Kyle, David, Rothbart (sorry for the misspelling) and others to find a groove has been challenging.

Kyle does a good job as the host and it was fun to see him get more comfortable in that role over time. The new cast (like any cast change) brings new personalities and takes time to adjust. The humor of the past shows feels like it is missing. I’m hopeful that with time and stability the new crew will find that rhythm. It is not the laugh out loud moments that make the show, but the consistent relationship where people are playing off of each other and building on that momentum.

As some of the other posters have commented, the sound quality does seem less and the analysis seems very Nintendo centric. I do appreciate the criticism and analysis. The cast has not slipped into fanboyisms and rose colored glasses. I am thankful and hope for a continued critical eye.

Finally, Sarcastic Gamer recently spun off and started a PS focused podcast. The cast was all new and took about 10 shows to really find a rhythm and banter that works. I’m looking forward to hearing Infendo when you guys find that rhythm that works. Good luck and I’ll keep on listening… and encourage others to as well.

  21. Paul says...

Sorry Roscott. Not Rothbart. My mistake.

  22. ChunkyB says...

I have a few complaints lately. First of all, it seems like none of the people in the podcast really keep up with nintendo news. I will usually listen as soon as it’s available, and I’m constantly yelling at my ipod because you say stuff that’s wrong, or you talk about things that might come, even when they’ve already been announced (GH4 DLC).

Also, I really miss Scott, as many have mentioned. I know it sucks, because it was obviously his decision to leave and stuff, but it just isn’t as entertaining, or as smooth, or as high quality (sound-wise).

Anyways, I think the hosts need to get some Nintendo RSS on their computers, and check it periodically so they can keep up with the actual news. Even though the name of the site is supposed to imply “Nintendo Information”, I feel like I don’t get any news at all.

Oh, and it also seems like the newer hosts don’t really know much about retro nintendo (more ipod screaming while I listen). Since only one person is talking at a time, someone should pull up wikipedia to do a little fact checking.

  23. Rosscott says...

Oh, it’s cool Paul. I get that all the time. Rothbart is a pretty common name.

  24. daverage says...

I hate to say it, but while I still listen I just don’t look forward to it as much. Same reasons mentioned above.

However, one thing I will say, Kyle is very entertaining as a host!

  25. Lord Toker says...

i voted “no” only because i visit ifendo when at work, so i really can’t not that i don’t want to. at home there is no time it’s a crazy house with the little one and a new born. but i wish i could…i do enjoy this site.

  26. Lord Toker says...

    “infendo” my apologies

  27. JJM says...

Infendo was my first podcast and is one of the reasons I still listen to podcast.

  28. Muggins says...

I’m an avid weekly listener – your show makes most of the other gaming podcasts seem boring! I must admit that things have tailed off a bit since Scott left but you guys are still frontrunners in the gaming podcast world IMHO.

    Keep up the good work.

  29. Lorenzo says...

Actually, I used to read this website when it was still an infant in blogspot covering the Nintendo Revolution… And of course I listened to Infendo radio when it first came out for a while…. But eventually, I stopped listening at the beginning of this year as I went on a month hiatus due to travel, and returned realizing that the only things I missed were my NPR podcasts…

IGN Games podcast had me for a while, but i quit them (soon after) due to the fact that they certainly weren’t very funny, and were rather slow in getting news across (as in the podcast dragged along).

The only game “cast” that I can stand is the 1up show, which I would watch on the public transit thanks to the wonders of the video iPod, but in my new situation, I don’t find any time at all to sit down and actually watch the 1Up Show all the way through… I’d rather spend my idling time on a doramaa or a anime or a good game for that matter.

So in the end, I moved from gaming blogs to gaming podcasts back to gaming blogs, because in the end…. I don’t really enjoy them anymore, and if I want to hear some real fighting commentary I just take a trip over to the forums, or the comment discussions.

And I had no idea that Scott left… Scott and Blake will always be the true Infendo Radio in my eyes.

But this is just the opinion of one guy, so take it as you will [:

  30. XCWarrior says...

You guys are my favorite podcast to listen to. I’ve sent in more emails than most listeners and would do it more often if not for the bashing I got for my man crush on Star Fox 64. Just get the length back to 45 min! Listen every week btw if that wasn’t apparent.

  31. Paul 2 (since there is now more than one) says...

Outside of 1up podcasts, this is the only gaming podcast I listen to. Most are insanely annoying. I really thought this past weeks podcast was the best in a while. It wasn’t headline reading, but actual discussion.

Really, my main criticism is that there doesn’t seem to be much breathing room anymore. The main points are hit and then the show is done.

I also think Kevin brings up a good point. I hadn’t quite thought of it that way before.

I’m assuming you guys aren’t getting as many downloads anymore. Well, Nintendo isn’t very exciting right now, so . . .

  32. Daniel Primed says...

No I don’t. I have downloaded one of the podcasts a few months ago and while it was a solid podcast, I didn’t really see the benefit in pursuing it any further. Mainly because your content and commentaries didn’t really grab me at all. I listen to The Brainy Gamer, Retronauts and some GFW/1Up that my brother recommends. There is much more critical discussion (BG,1UP), informative insight (Retronauts) and/or well formed humour (GFW/1UP) in these podcast and I don’t think that you guys can really match that. It’s not to say that your podcast is bad by any means, but in comparison to some of the industrys most critical thinking journalists and a literary arts teacher who teaches critical exploration of games, your podcast is not quite as good.

  33. ZarkSeven says...

Infendo Radio used to be in my top 2-3 must-hear podcasts each week, but it has slipped down to an occasional listen. Many of the podcasts I like I tend to listen to because of the hosts. I thought the dynamic of Scott, Blake and Kyle worked well. They seemed all come at gaming from unique perspectives, and when they gave their opinions, I found them valuable in part because i knew who they were and where they were coming from.

It’s hard to value some random host’s opinions. I understand it was Scott’s decision to leave, but then at the same time Blake started appearing only off and on, and a cavalcade of unknown (to the podcast) hosts started appearing. Consistency in the hosts week after week is pretty important to me. Blake seems to show up rather randomly, particularly since Scott’s departure, without much explanation that I can recall. Scott’s departure was a big change, and it would have been better to reassure the audience with consistency. Instead, it gave me the impression that Scott’s gone and now Blake can’t even bother to do his own podcast. There may be perfectly valid reasons for it, but to me it just seems like it’s turned into “ok, who can we get to do the show this week.” In the old days of just Scott, Blake, and Kyle, there seemed to be more consistency and commitment than I feel there is now.

  34. StLRamsFan says...

I used to listen faithfully, but I’ve given up. I really enjoyed the chemistry among Scott, Blake and Kyle. It was a big blow when Scott left, but I understood his reasoning. I’m really disappointed in Blake. It seems he can’t be bothered with the podcast any more. What makes it worse is that I tend to agree with Blake, and value his thoughts and opinions the most. Kyle, David and the others try to soldier on and keep the podcast going but it has lost its way. What a shame. :(

  35. KillerHeroes says...

Sometimes. Every since Scott left, I’ve been listening less and less. Like StLRamsFan, I miss it when it was just Scott, Blake, and Kyle.

  36. Run line 10 says...

I’ve started playing it since your E3 pod cast and you guys seem like pretty good guys. Nice going I usually hate to listen to podcast. The whining isn’t that bad also we just want facts. Nintendo isn’t listening to these I don’t think.

  37. David Tylor says...

I used to never miss it. I listened to it from the beginning in anticipation of the Wii release. I called in many times. I entered contests. I loved the Podcast. However, as I grew disillusioned with the Wii as a console, my interest in Nintendo (and thus infendo.com) waned. I bought a PS3 in December of last year and now I tend to check PS3-related sites and might come to Infendo once a month. I quit listening to the podcasts too. Sorry guys. It isn’t your fault. It is Nintendo’s fault. My kid’s still play Wii sports and a few other titles, but I haven’t bought a Wii game in…gosh….a year maybe? I can’t even remember. I used to be a huge Nintendo fanboy (man?) but the issues with the Wii (many were outlined in an article here a few weeks ago) just put me over the edge. When I play games I play my PS3. I still love my DS and play that regularly, but there is nothing on the Wii that interests me. :-(

  38. Hizeme says...

Havent listened since the show after scott left.

  39. Hizeme says...

havent listened to the show since scott left*
