Penny Arcade goes there

This Rock Band/Guitar Hero pissing match over who can line the pockets of as many artists as possible with dedicated stand-alone musical act titles is, admittedly, growing a little thin.
I say this even as sales of World Tour for the Wii tops all other versions because, frankly, I believe the genre to be tapped, having plateaued in 2008.
Regardless, Penny Arcade takes it to an entirely different level.

That gave me a nice chuckle first thing this morning.

It should have been a blow up Courtney doll w/ a gun instead

wow.

Oh man… I wasn’t ready for that.

I would give them a pass for being tacky if the joke were funnier. As in, funny at all.
April 22nd, 2009 at 12:55 pm
I don’t really get the joke. Would anyone mind explaining it to me?

Kurt Cobain killed himself (officially, at least) with a shotgun. He was just barely 27, and in his artistic and professional prime. He had recently become a father. He had some serious physical and mental problems. HA HA HA.

Well, thanks, Boo! You killed the joke! (Or whatever humor was left in it…)
April 22nd, 2009 at 1:39 pm
Thank you Boo for clearing this up. I’m not quite sure where the humor is in this though.

You people need a sense of humor.

“It should have been a blow up Courtney doll w/ a gun instead”
*sigh* You know the guy that’s always screaming “Get in the hole!” at golf tournaments? Or that guy on a panel show that keeps trying to correct everybody in the hopes of actually saying something true just by force of repetition or volume? You’re that guy.
You aren’t funny. You probably never will be. All you can do is wait for a joke or some satire and say what *you* would have done, which ranks below executives whining about their bonuses one the “Does anybody care?” scale.
As for this story? I think Guitar Hero and Rock Band have somehow milked themselves into oblivion. Probably because the classic rock well is dry. I remember when people gave Nintendo a lot of shit for releasing a new Mario Party every year. How EA and Activision escape this criticism and the silence thereafter is both mind-boggling and deafening.

@Jeff
And you’re not insightful. You probably never will be. Now go back to your hole.
April 22nd, 2009 at 2:55 pm
Both of you back on point. Or I’ll have the powers that be mark your comments as spam. Which is what they are.

Well, they (Tycho and Gabe) were aware the joke might be a TAD early after all.
