BioShock of all games won Game of the Year over Mario galaxy? I guess now I know to never take this awards show seriously. BioShock might as well have won prom king.

Spike TV fails big time.

Super Mario Galaxy was not even nominated for game of the year. That is the real failure.

After last year’s VGA debacle and recent events, I really expected their Game of the Year to be Kane & Lynch.

Not to lend credibility to Spike TV or anything (I mean, this is an “award show” that has a “fueled by Dew” category), but Bioshock was/is a pretty really game that had amazing atmosphere. I had more fun playing Galaxy, but I have to concede that I felt much more immersed with Bioshock’s delivery. It’s really trying to compare apples to oranges, though, with their completely different goals.
Mario Galaxy not even getting a nod is pretty weak though.

award who need them? Good games are fun to play, so for the consumer its not really important who wins. Game of the year is more for the fans of those games competing. Anyway, to each of his or her own. Imo, good games are all winners.

I have played or rented pretty much aal of the best games this year.
And I have to say, although I have more favourites on my 360 than on my Wii, Mario Galaxy IS THE GAME OF THE YEAR.
The ridiculous fact that it was not even NOMINATED, is a total f’ing JOKE.
Zero credibility to the program to not have it as, at the least, a nominee…
Garbage.
Total Garbage.

I’m also sad to see Metroid Prime fail to make the list. These awards shows are just mindless TV entertainment. Maybe if they had fewer lame video game TV shows people wouldn’t be so quick to accuse video games of rotting the minds of the young.
Bioshock is amazing, but I shelved it for Metroid. Much more enjoyable.

It’s very telling that only 2 of the 20+ awards in this show were won by Nintendo, and they’re the ONLY non-Western developer to win any awards.
