Friends don’t let friends keep their Wii offline and disconnected.

Or so says Nintendo. A short demo video called “What You Can Do With the Wii” will be pre-installed on new Wii consoles to encourage new users to get their systems online.

Nintendo also announced a campaign that awards Wii users 500 Wii Points for helping a non-connected Wii user get their Wii console connected.

This campaign is exclusive to Japanese Wii owners and helps explain the recently release of the Nintendo Wi-Fi Network Adapter.

Released exclusively in Japan last month, the adapter serves as a “bridge” for an existing router and aims to ease the process of connecting the Wii to the Internet for mainstream users.

So they are going to pre-install a video onto the already sparse Wii memory instead of just throwing this on a cheap DVD and putting it in the box?

    I can see it now.
All the fanBOYS who falsely praised Nintendo for not going into the online market aggresivily will now, hypocritically, praise Nintendo for starting to become aggressive in their online presence.

Nice to see some sort of desire for Wii online functionality. A little late to the party, but that doesn’t mean it wont end up good, hopefully.
