Nintendo reveals Metallic Silver DS

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 at 8:10am by Jack

Nintendo announced a new color DS today. It’s not a redesign, but it’s still going to sell.

In some venues, silver is the color of second place. For Nintendo DS™, silver is No. 1. Starting Sept. 7, Metallic Silver joins the Nintendo DS color palette. The new Metallic Silver version makes a nice addition to any tech collection, whether you’re a gadget hipster or fashionista. Watch for the Metallic Silver DS to be featured in the new upcoming Nintendo DS print ad featuring actress Liv Tyler.

Millions of people around the world, from core gamers to new players, have discovered Nintendo DS. Some like to play traditional games like New Super Mario Bros.™, Mario Kart® DS or The Legend of Zelda®: Phantom Hourglass. Others use it to train their brains with Brain Age®: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day or solve puzzles with Crosswords DS. With a library of more than 600 games in every conceivable genre, there’s a game or experience for everyone.

Is there anyone left out there who doesn’t have a DS? Heck, even David has one now :-)

    Um… I don’t? *hides*

It’s just that, for someone who works at home, I really don’t see the point of having a handheld. I barely have time for my Wii, I can’t imagine having to share that time with the DS. Not to mention getting games and all that.

    Can’t afford one.

Awesome! My two-timing trifling underage girlfriend just demanded hers back, and after scratching and sending it back, i’m looking for a new one. I was thinking the blue cobalt, but this may be the one.

    lol @ nick’s comment.

i was glad i waited for the second round of colors before I bought mine. I got the red/black and i like it a lot more than the black or white or pink, which were originally the only color options.

Don’t have one, don’t really want one.

Very cool; finally, they come out with another color, and it’s a good choice. What’s even better is it isn’t a hybrid like the red and blue ones are.
I probably won’t get this one – I like my Gold Zelda edition DS a lot better. :D

    @Roddy

I work from home also. There are tons of games on the DS that I can pick up, then put down at a moments notice — like Pac Man. Simply closing the lid sleeps the DS. Opening the lid of course resumes gameplay.

There’s also those times when sitting in a certain room can be boring without reading material… ¬¬

Overall the DS is my favorite console all around. Great system to own period, it’s just for on the go. Besides, you have to play Zelda: PH!

Oh, get the two tone DSs. They have a matte bottom, which is better to hold than the glossy DSs.

I didn’t have a DS… and I have just THAT very DS straight from Japan (I was actually there and bought it as it was pretty and the one color you can’t get in the US or Mexico, at least it used to be. :P )

I would rather have had the golden Zelda DS but that was sold out when I had a chance to buy one in the US.

To those curious of buying one, get it. Nowhere nearly as “dirty” as white, and unlike “look at all these cratches” black.

I still have my Mario Kart DS edition DS Phat. It still works, so I can’t really buy a new one just yet…

I really like the color. Seems like it wouldn’t show as much of the fingerprints or smudges as the other colors either. But I think I’ll wait until spring to see if that DS redesign rumor is true.

  11. Tankooni says...

hmm i want that one but i still want bors gold DS with the triforc on it evenmore
    loks cool though

  12. David says...

HEY! I resemble that remark. Honestly, a color won’t get me to buy another DS or Wii, but I sure would love to have a silver DS and a silver Wii. I’ve been saying that since they first showed a silver Wii back when the Revolution was revealed.

I have silver ds and it’s awesome, and no there is no fingerprints wisible(before I had black lite), I’m from Europe, so we have silver ds for quite some time…
