After weeks of junk food, Nintendo systems get a feast this week.  We have the DS version of a popular Wii title, the latest version of a handheld classic with added online play, a mature title for Wii that has some gamers salivating, an anime adventure, and a new, budget first party title from Nintendo.  And a jet ski game.  New releases for the week ending January 26th:

DS
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games

Wii
Endless Ocean
Kawasaki Jet Ski
No More Heroes
One Piece: Unlimited Adventure

I initially thought that No More Heroes wouldn’t be my type of game, but am really excited to try it out. Not sure if this is a rent or buy for me just yet… but I’ve heard a lot more good than bad about the game from the people I trust.

(I’ve also heard some nasty comments about the game… but those have come almost exclusively from people who dislike my favorite games while extolling ones I hate. Frankly, their negativity only makes me more excited.)

With Endless Ocean and a revamped Advance Wars also coming out, this could end up being a huge week.

I wonder if Mario VS Sonic is worth a purchase on the DS?
I hear it is slightly better than the Wii version.

Endless Ocean looks interesting and I might be wrong, but I remember hearing something about online co-op? I think I might rent it, maybe buy. I need some reviews first.

No More Heroes looks very cool. A Mature 3rd party title? And it looks good? Wow. I hope it sells ok.

Great Week here to be honest.

I dont see what wrong with the releases for the ending of this month…I’m looking forward to three of the releases (of course exept kawasaki jet ski @_@)

And if I had a DS I’d be stoked to be getting Advanced Wars!!

    This isn’t bad ^^

I’m looking forward to No More Heroes! I just have to see if it’s in my budget (and if the reviews are any good). Should be pretty cool!

And while I’m not necessarily interested in anything else on the list, it’s not a bad week for gamers and casuals alike! If only every week (or at least every other week) were as good as this one for video games.

Advance Wars is a must buy for me (I still have to beat the first one…I discovered it like a week ago).

No More Heroes is a must buy for me (I love Suda51 and want to support the hardcore/punk rock mentality on the Wii).

Endless Ocean is likely buy for me (y’know, fun with the girlfriend).

I cant believe you guys that side of the pond have just got Endless Ocean. I was listening to the IGN podcast on the way in to work and the guys there were raving about it. I was thining, “I’ve been playing this game for months. Have IGN only just found it?” I didint realise it only just come out….although I’d gladly give up my copy of Endless Ocean for another of your weeks releases, No More Heroes.

Awesome, a great list of releases. I’m still not convinced that Advance Wars does enough new to the series to warrant another purchase. Its been doing the same thing for about 20 years, I don’t think that they plan on changing it now.

  13. Andrew-MG says...

    Dear Nintendo,

    More Advance-Wars,
    More Pikmin.

    Still less Zapper, though.

    Love,
    Andrew-MG
