Nintendo Quote of the Week – June 17th
Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 at 7:30am by Jake
“The flow of time is always cruel… its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it… A thing that does not change with time is a memory of younger days…”
(Sheik)
-The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
I thought it would be proper to begin this new feature with one of my favorite pieces of dialog from a Nintendo game. Sheik’s advice on our short time on earth manages to blur the line between our physical world and the world of Hyrule. We can all relate to the aging of time.
Check back each week for select quotes from Nintendo games, developers, and events.

That is one of the better quotes from the game. I heard the music and saw Sheik lecturing Link as I read that. Great pick.
Where’s the rest of that Sheik pic? I really like that style above.

This is one of the few videogame quotes that I want to remember. It’s so comforting and empathetic. It’s true; It really blurs the line of real life and the game. It resonates with my whole being and really what made me connect to the game on an emotional level (along with several other moments, like the angry man with the ‘tin can music player’ who teaches Link “The Song of Storm”).
