Nintendo Power secret revealed
Sunday, June 1st, 2008 at 1:33am by JakeIn a follow up to last month’s teasing issue, Nintendo Power has let loose the info on the “shocker” title in this months mag. It’s not Kid Icarus, Harvest Moon, Earthbound, or even Star Fox. It’s the one…the only…Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia for the DS! (*Silence*) Would have been great news had we not of known about this over a month ago. Don’t get me wrong. A new Castlevania game for the DS is great. Just not quite the answer to fanboy hype we were all expecting.
Just when you thought one long month of pointless speculation was finished here’s a new tidbit to chew on. Once again NP teases with an answer to a reader question concerning the best DS game of all time…
The team here at NP does indeed discuss these kind of important issues all the time - our talks usually end with someone getting poked in the eye or bitten. On this subject, keep an eye out for something really big next issue… if all of us are still in one piece by then.”
I’m not even going to take a swing at it this time. At the news speed Nintendo Power runs at it could be the recently rated ASH finally making it to US shores.
Come on NP! Start using that mysterious witchcraft the hip kids call “internet”.
Thanks, David

Nintendo Power has been lacking lately since they switched publishers.

^ I’ll take that comment and raise it futher to Nintendo Power has been lacking since around the announcement of the Wii (May 2006). Just sooo slow.

If you look at it from a general level, the printed media has been lacking it since the rise of the Internet as a news source…
According to future though, the plan to use the offcial NP website so hopefully we see somthing in the likes of game informer where the have the Magz going out and the site running with the magz content.

Whoopie freakin’ doo… I could give two craps for more DS games. They need to seriously get cranking on the Wii.

I believe if you go back to the original “moon” post here on Infendo…I was the first one to guess Castlevania.
Where’s my prize?

Chocolate chip or oatmeal?

Why do people even read magazines and newspapers anymore? Print media is a dinosaur, soon to be extinct. And I say good riddance, the agenda-ridden, exclusive club of so-called journalists has failed us too often. They aren’t worth it, let them die, everything from the Wall Street Journal to the humble Nintendo Power.

Well, I’m not surprised, I knew that it was a Castlevania title they were talking about. However, I admit I thought it would be something new either as a Wii game or Wiiware.

I don’t care about Castlevania anymore. It lost its awesomeness when it decided to become more anime-themed and when every game started looking/playing the same.
And I don’t mind Nintendo Power as it is now. I think it’s a little obsolete, what with the interwebs and all, but at least there are…pretty pictures?

The game they’re tipping about is probably MadWorld. If you look later in the issue where they’re talking about MadWorld, they do mention that MadWorld will be next month’s cover feature.
“…end with someone getting poked in the eye or bitten. On this subject, keep an eye out for something really big next issue…”
You’ll recall that the MadWorld teaser trailer ends with a guy getting a signpost crammed through his eye socket.

Wow.
Another….yawn… Castlevania…yawn .. game for the DS.
Sure they are good games, but..excuse me…yawn… THIS WAS THE BIG SECRET?
LOL@ fanboys who thought it was going to be something new or big or different…

Good guess, but they are teasing about a DS game…not a Wii title. Thus the question of “best DS game of all time”.

Nintendo Power used to be my primary video game news source despite being able to get info faster online. There was just something nice about having that magazine in your hands and being able to literally drool over new games. It was also a lot easier to take along and read a magazine at work or to class. (At least before web enabled cell phones came along.) That’s not to mention all the cool posters and subscription giveaways, you don’t get that kind of stuff from reading your gaming news on the web.
But those were the good ol’ days before Future US took over and I stopped my subscription… I’ve already bemoaned on that before. I’m tired of hearing about NP because it just makes me a little sad now. I doubt anything they write about from here on will be any ’surprise’ to us.

It will be better next month, seriously:
Middle of July is E3!
Hopefully there will be a lot more at E3 for Nintendo to talk about than just another Wii Fit title for big release.
(It will probably be about the new Donkey Kong Country, if my sources are correct.)
