Nintendo Of Korea Tweet Causes Controversy

Twitter seems to be the source of many controversies lately, and Nintendo is not exempt.  Someone using Nintendo of Korea’s Twitter account (it is unknown if the account was hacked, or if it was internal) posted the following in reference to Eun Ji Park and her boyfriend.  Eun Ji Park was once a weather forecaster, and is now a popular TV personality:

“She should have just stayed as a TV Meteorologist. Getting all the work done on her face like that. How come a brainless bitch like you gets the entire spotlight? Who is your sponsor? TV…sigh…”

I should point out that “sponsor”, in Korea, basically means “sugar daddy” and is synonymous for exchanging sexual favors for achieving celebrity status.  The article that prompted the tweet can be found HERE, however my Korean is a bit rusty.

Nintendo of Korea has claimed that the tweet did not originate from an employee, which could hint at a compromised account.  However, some of the Nintendo of Korea followers believe that the person who runs the Twitter account might have confused the Nintendo account with their own.  Nintendo responded with the following:

We’ve determined no employee has posted such comment on our Twitter account,” Nintendo of Koreatold Naver. “We’d like to know how this ended up on our Twitter. This matter is frustrating.”

The tweet has since been deleted.

Positive or Negative, publicity is publicity.  Do you think that the tweet will harm Nintendo of Korea’s reputation, or will it be forgotten by the end of the week?
