Nintendo first party titles, Grand Theft Auto IV top Edge 2008 best seller list

Wednesday, January 28th, 2009 at 9:14am by Jack

Edge, using a series of super secret formulas, back channels and NPD Group moles, has assembled a list of the best-selling video games from the past 12 months.

Dominating the top ten are several EA franchise titles, a Russian guy down on his luck in Liberty City, as well as a number of Nintendo first party titles that include Mario Kart Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and everybody’s favorite floor-level drink coaster, Wii Fit.

Guitar Hero sneaks into the top 10 too, but it’s somewhat of a stretch: Edge has grouped everything that had the GH brand into one entry. I’d be more interested to see how each system panned out individually.

oh- also it’s interesting to see how a game’s metacritic score matches against its sales.

For a game with Funky Kong, number 2 ain’t too shabby….

It was nice to see Animal Crossing on the boards after just a month of being released. Aside from Mario Kart Wii, Animal Crossing: City Folk is owned by most of my Wii friends.

I didn’t care too much for the list. There were a number of games on there I didn’t care for such as (professianl (insert sport here) 20xx. In all honesty, we know that they sell quite well so please omit them from the top whatever lists. But everyone has their own thing.
