@WowITzMike: Before I comment on this, I would be shocked myself if the Japanese audience did look at the Nintendo DSi and say, “who gives a dam about this new little DS system re-make.” Heh heh, that would sure turn some heads. lol
Anyways, I’m I like everyting I’m seeing about the DSi, but I REALLY do believe that THAT DS Shop really does have a backlist catalog of Game Boy, Game Boy Color and possibly even Game Gear games and maybe some others like WonderSwan Color in there waiting in the wings for when DSi ships in Japan. That would really make a mark AND dent in Nintendo’s newest little portable re-make even when you look at the fact that it would be capatilizing off the Wii’s VC success.
I saw a lot more in this commercial than what has been announced, like there is a whole upgrade on most of the DS applications.
But that still leaves the issue of the price: if it is in the $170-$180 range, as rumored, then people who are interested in it for the applications will be better off getting a PSP at the same price. People who are interested in the games will get the exact same use from it than if they bought a DS Lite for $50 less, or even the DS Phat for $100 less, used. And that is IF you don’t have a DS Lite already.
So who does Nintendo think will buy the DSi? I would buy it if I had the extra cash, but then there’s the Recession coming…
To InvisibleMan:
I know I’m getting it on the first day. Nintendo certainly knows I’m getting it. NOA is putting off the DSi because the DS Lite is already doing well, so what do you think will happen when the DSi comes tho North American shores?
…Or it could totally bomb and only 12 people will get one.
And another thing. The PSP doesn’t have internal memory or a camera, right? No. Didn’t think so. I would know.
SONY’S GOT NOTHIN’!
…Forgive my rant.

Wasn’t there something earlier this week that said that the Japanese market isn’t interested in the DSi?
Anyway, great trailer, mate!
