Nintendo confirms Oct. 2 press conference

Nintendo today confirmed rumors it will hold a fall press conference.
The event is slated for Oct. 2, one week ahead of the Tokyo Game Show. Japan’s Nihon Securities Journal has reported Nintendo will unveil “new products” at the event.
Nintendo is being characteristically tight-lipped about those products, however, saying only that “content and announcements are still being finalized” for the conference.
Nintendo’s showing at the E3 press conference in July was almost universally slammed for being scant and casual-focused. The company has since apologized and seemingly made strides to dispel notions it has abandoned its core audience.
Could this conference be Nintendo’s amends to the core gamer? We’ll know in three weeks.

This is what they announced in last years conference:
Mario Super Sluggers
Kirby Super Star Ultra
Fire Emblem DS
Bikes in Mario Kart
Sonic in Brawl
Smash Bros. Brawl delay
Plus, Capcom announced Monster Hunter 3 would be a Wii exclusive.

If they follow last year in terms of announcements, it will be quite a conference.

forget the hardcore, how about just an announcement for the stockholders so we can see > $60 share price. Ninny didn’t just spit in the eye of many fans with the E3, it screwed its owners.
(though I do think we’ll the E3 casual stuff outperform v mkt expectations- esp wiimusic)

@deep,
Yeah, personally, I’d like to see it over 70 again so I can sell all my shares like I should have 6 months ago.

Now THIS is what we should get our hopes up; not E3, but THIS! This was the same event that announced Sonic for SSBB, more information about WiiWare, and to be frank this year might be the announcement of the stupid problem that shouldn’t have to be a complete big deal: storage space.

That’s right. Nintendo also announced:
Launch Window for WiiWare in Japan
Dr. Mario Online
My Pokemon Ranch
And I believe Square-Enix also revealed My Life as a King.

LOL I hope they cancel it and put up a bunch of Wii music booths for the press!
That will teach em!

I’m sick of reading the same old bullshit about how Nintendo is “making amends” to the hardcore. Nintendo doesn’t need to make amends to ANYBODY. E3 is for the press and the game industry ONLY. What Nintendo wants to show off at E3 they show off at E3. They didn’t owe anyone anything and the mere fact that we’re talking about apologies being handed out for Nintendo simply being Nintendo just shows what a bunch of whiny pricks the core/hardcore are, along with 99% of bloggers and so-called game journalists out there who think they’re doing their job but really can’t get their heads out of their overly-opinionated assholes for one moment just to give people the honest truth.

Ironic you’d use the term “overly-opinionated.”

and “whiny”!
September 18th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
Yeah if you work for the industry this is just a gossip column. I think a little of this whinning is from developers acting like fans but that’s only an excuse to make HD graphics this gen. Besides competition with nintendo is hard i mean you have to make your game fun then. Why do that when you can hype up your movie like skills, I mean most act like they would rather be making movies anyway.

It’s not an opinion, Derek. It’s the absolute truth.
The Hardcore are choking the life out of this industry even while Nintendo is busy giving it life.
And deepthought, your two word post is very ironic (considering that you call yourself “deep thought”).

i know! i love irony! (& I still can’t decide if my name is a reference to Jack Handey or Douglas Adams! how’s that for deep?)
