New Yorker on Wii

The December 4th issue of the New Yorker sums up the road to Wii. We’ve all heard the story, but the article sums up Nintendo’s “not competing for next gen” strategy quite nicely:

“The point is that business is not a sporting event. Victory for one company doesn’t mean defeat for everyone else.”

While it’s nice to see the mainstream press catching on, do you think Joe Consumer considers these things when making technology purchases?
