New Super Mario Bros. Wii revealed at E3

Nintendo today announced New Super Mario Bros. Wii, a 2D Mario “flatformer” exclusively for Wii.
Aesthetically similar to New Super Mario Bros. for the Nintendo DS, the new Wii iteration features the same 3D characters and environments scrolling in old-school 2D fashion.
Unlike Mario platformers in the past, however, the focus with the New Super Mario Bros. Wii is on multiplayer—up to four players can work their way through the Mushroom Kingdom. Mario, Luigi and Toads were confirmed.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii is due to release this holiday season.

ugh it was tube socks…i don’t think this was the right choice for the wii, sure for the ds it works perfect, but i would have preferred a new zelda title or kid icarus over this hell even a new paper mario would be more welcome. i guess i’ll wait for some reviews before making final judgement, but not that excited for this title.

This is for Japan. They love their 2D Mario!
Personally, I’m sure I’ll play it and love it, but I’d prefer another Galaxy.

I agree with Lord Toker and ninjaluke84!! But I’m stilla gonna test this game. This holiday season = Christmas? I hope they will show several more games like Kid Icarus for Wii!

I like it. I can see my son and his friends spending hours on this game. Definitely a future purchase.

This looks great — a ton of fun! My only complaint would be, why two Toads? Why not one Toad and then have Princess? That lineup worked for Mario 2… don’t see why they couldn’t do that in this game, too. I suppose it’s because you’re saving the Princess in this game, but surely they could have come up with something other than a second Toad.

This is going to sell like HOTCAKES. Look at the sales of New Super Mario Bros. This will bring in the DS players if they don’t already have a Wii.
