For the better part of the 1990’s, the Sega Genesis and the Super Nintendo Entertainment System battled it out for the hearts and minds of gamers across the globe. Their respective mascots, Sonic the Hedgehog and Mario the plumber, featured prominently in that battle, but it would be a stretch to say that either of the two ever got into any real life face-to-face, hand-to-hand combat. Video game mascot Wrestlemania it was not, being more a war of words and silly commercials featuring terms like “blast processing” than anything of real substance or value.
But this standoff might be coming to a close, with a real battle brewing on the gaming horizon in the form of Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. Word today is that Miyamoto dropped some serious hints in a recent interview that Sonic was the most wanted character in a game that has already seen its fair share of promos featuring a revamped Samus and Solid Snake as some of its newest characters. This game has taken on a life of its own in recent months since E3, with the right characters making appearances at all the right times. Do you think anyone is feeling left out?
