Miyamoto: 3DS Launch Needed More Mario

Shigeru Miyamoto has stated, in a recent interview, that Nintendo did not properly advertise the unique features of the 3DS.  Features such as Augmented Reality and other installed apps should have received more focus.  He also stated that he was disappointed with the launch line up.  What would have made the line up better?

More Mario Titles, of course!

It does seem that Nintendo’s number one was slightly ignored on the 3DS.  Whether by design, or poor planning, Mario is a staple and should be prominently displayed on all Nintendo systems. Miyamoto had the following to say:

“If I could rewind the clock I would change the lineup for the 3DS launch so it had more Mario titles. Not only that, but we also have some excellent features that appeal to non-gamers: 3D photography, the augmented reality features and other pre-installed apps. We tried hard to communicate these, but we failed. If I could go back I would have communicated these things differently, and spent more time working out that message.”

What are your thoughts on the 3DS launch and features?  What could have been done better?
