Metroid Prime 3 gets its first perfect score

The upcoming issue of Nintendo Power allegedly gives Metroid Prime 3 a perfect 10/10 score based on the following:
- First Wii game that you couldn’t confuse graphically with last-gen
- Great artwork
- Incredible feeling of immersion
- Flawless level design; tons of freedom to explore but you always have the feeling that you’re at the right place at the right time. Sounds like the game does a remarkable job of nudging you as to what to do without giving it away.
- Best platforming design in a first person shooter
- Gestures for pulling levers, etc markedly improved from earlier demos
Before you dismiss the publication’s critique for being owned by Nintendo proper, remember the magazine has given unfavorable reviews to Nintendo published games in the past. Incidentally, not even Zelda: Ocarina of Time or Zelda: Twilight Princess received a 10 from Nintendo Power.
Like you needed to know that anyway before buying the game…

Nintendo is trying REALLY hard to prove something to the core gamers they forgot about. There was no Month of Zelda, but for some reason there is now a Month of Metroid.
Marketing is marketing, and Nintendo is pushing Metroid really hard. A little too hard. I planned on buying this from day one, but there really is no need to make a celebration about it.

frisby, i feel the same way; but any thing that will make many other people play a game i know i’ll love makes me feel better.

@ frisby:
Yes there is. First of all because it probes that the Wii is not for party games (to those who believe that of course).
It also shows that Nintendo didnt forget about the hardcore gamers. Instead they are sharing with both hardcore and casual.
And a perfect game… how could we not celebrate? After all, there aren’t many of 10/10 games out there.

I had a feeling the Metroid Prime 3 would be best of the Prime series yet. I need to buy a component cable in preparation of playing this game on my HDTV. Nintendo is on a roll.

I think we need to wait and see what other sites score the game as well before we can officially declare the game a perfect 10. After all, Twilight Princess got perfect scores from some, yet below 9 from others.
Either way, I could care less what others “score” the game. I’m going to buy the game, play it, and love it. Period.

It’s getting hard to contain excitement for this one. I’m ready for some cool Metroid commercials and official website content and other stuff to get me hyped.
I will glance at scores for the game, but I won’t read any review that’s not prefaced with a spoiler warning. If I can get a review without too much spoiling, I will read.

just…..a….few….more…..days…….

It’s definitely a great sign. I had no doubt that Retro Studios would deliver.

Even though the perfect score came from Nintendo, from what I’ve seen of their other first party reviews, they’re pretty in line with other review sites neither overrating nor underrating those games. Zelda Twilight Princess I thought was a 9.4-9.5 game and a lot of reviewers agreed with that.

I guess you guys are right. It’s not like they are pushing another port or another version of RE4.
A demo would have been nice, but the flash space is not so friendly.

They could be going bonkers about it since this is the last game in the Prime series.
Like the preview channel trailer says: “…go behind the visor, one last time…”
Or maybe “Metroid Prime 4: Nekkid” will be a Zero Suit adventure?!

David: What about “finish the fight”…? =D

“I could care less what others “score” the game”….but…”I think we need to wait and see what other sites score the game”.
Huh?

Seems like I have to prioritize on importing this game over food purchases.

I really don’t need to read this cause, technically I already own the game. And reading this will make the wait that much harder…Ç_Ç

“First Wii game that you couldn’t confuse graphically with last-gen”
I’m so tired of hearing that. Did NO ONE else Play Sonic?
It’s easily the best looking game the Wii has to offer at the moment and it likely couldn’t have been done on Gamecube or even the Xbox.

samfish
no one played sonic.

I did play Sonic! For about ten minutes… then returned to the store!
Like I said before… Metroid Prime 3 Corruption and Super Mario Galaxy: the two reasons we got a Wii!
