Mario sales through the years (with pic!)

We’ve all seen the Mario sales comparison chart before, but this was the first time I’d seen it was the appropriate sprites (with size adjusted for sales numbers). Previously I had heard there was a steady decline with each release, but there’s New Super Mario Bros. with the second highest totals of all time, right after Super Mario Bros. Kind of fitting.

Are these numbers just for Japan, though? I think that’s what it says.
Also, what in the world is SMAS for the SFC? I’m drawing a blank.

Poor Super Mario Sunshine didn’t even make it on the list. I see Super Mario Galaxy doing very well in the future.
