MadWorld trailer is bloody black and white fun
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008 at 8:07am by JackI guess I found this MadWorld trailer in the gutter. Looks pretty intense, interesting, and a great addition to the Wii’s growing third party line up. Surprised it’s coming from Sega?

whhhat? i had heard of but not seen this one in action. it looks manic and awesome. but… you know, if they made Rockstar change up Manhunt 2 (boring game) because of the gore – do you really think this will be released in the state its in? i hope so, because that state appears to be awesome. it’s on my buy list.

Platinum Games is already changing things a bit.
The “SPPLLAAAT!” and “VRROOOM!” comic book pop-ups are new; those weren’t in prior builds, but they were added to make the violence more over-the-top and stylized, and hopefully for SEGA, less realistic.
I’m loving MadWorld, but I don’t like those pop-ups. Hopefully, they can be turned off.

lol, i love that society is concerned about the ‘realism’ of a game featuring a man holding another man above his head and tearing him apart like a phone book. obviously, most violent crimes are committed in such a fashion.
kudos, world.
still looks rad.

But you do have to realize, they are creating this to be over-the-top, not super-realistic style like Manhunt 2.
They want it to be fun and funny at the same time.
Whether or not they will have those exclamations in the final version won’t detract from how fun it’s going to be to destroy those people.

^^ Yes, they just annoy me, is all. I hated them in the Ninja Turtle games for GameCube, too. I hate them in cartoons. I just hate them.

For some reason I was thinking this game would be a more serious title. I love the art direction, but a lot of this trailer had me going “meh” compared to what I was expecting. Of course, the next trailer might change that again.

want to first say, the game looks great. and no gunder, no trailer will make you happy, because this is what the game is about. and we knew that from the game summary we got when the game was announced weeks ago. we dont know how prevalent the announcer is, but the rest is how the game plays. in fact, i think a better official description is up for the game somewhere online by now
………..
i think joltman means unlike manhunt 2, because unlike manhunt 2 trying to be realistic, this was meant to be over the top, comic style action from the beginning. of course things are still being added to it. the game isnt even finished yet.
Also, if you people would read instead of overreacting to everything, manhunt 2 was not affected because of its violence, but because of the way rockstar represented the violence. read the reports of the ratings boards and their responses to the confusion. it was sensable what their conclusions were.
This game will not have any problems like manhunt 2 except for a country or 2 which cant help but overreact like gamers do. the US wont be one of them.

The game looks awesome, but the music in that trailer sucked. Good thing it was almost completely over heard by the sound of chainsaw massacre.

waltermh – I guess I remembered the trailers I’d seen (without comic book onomatopoeias and kitschy voiceover) before and with the press release more than the press release itself. Killing people in fun, stylistic manner is great and all, so I’m going to have to wait and see how it pans out.
