Dead Rising Wii-make dated, priced in Japan

Kotaku reports the Wii version of zombie-basher Dead Rising will be available Feb. 19 in Japan.
It will be priced at ¥7,340, which translates to approximately $75.
Critics have given denunciatory impressions of Dead Rising’s early Wii builds, mostly stemming from poor visuals and abhorrently low zombie totals on-screen.
Capcom built the Wii version, subtitled Chop Till You Drop, on the Resident Evil 4 engine, utilizing a similar over-the-shoulder camera view. The game utilizes motion controls for much of the combat.

Capcom announced in July it expects to sell 500,000 copies of Dead Rising on Wii. It has yet to announce a North American release.

$75? Thanks but no thanks.

$75 isn’t a bad deal at all… that’s only $1 per zombie that you will encounter while playing through the game!
Seriously though, after playing the Left 4 Dead demo, it’s gonna be pretty much impossible to justify buying this game. If your PC can handle it, I strongly recommend you play that demo ASAP. The sheer awesomeness melted my face.

Being priced at $75 in Japan doesn’t mean it will have the same price here. Even if it does come out at that price, wait for a couple weeks and it’ll surely drop to “reasonable” levels - especially if people aren’t buying.
Recently read that it *is* possible to have 100 zombies on screen at once… but am having trouble believing that. Here’s hoping Dead Rising Wii actually does exceed current expectations and impressions (but don’t hold your breath).

That price is misleading. It probably has more to do with the weak dollar than anything else. X amount of yen is now worth more dollars than it used to be that’s all.

even if the price does drop this title in no way shape or form is worth anything in its current state. maybe if we didn’t have something to compare it too, but let’s be honest this version sucks and good luck reaching that 500,000. i’ll take original wii-ware titles any day over crappy ports and this does fall in the category of crappy port.

Last time I checked, this game looked like A S S

75 bucks? Reason number 52 to NOT BUY THIS GAME.
You know, you compare stuff like Tatsunoko vs. Capcom to this and you really see how fucked up Capcom is. Cancel this shit and bring TVC stateside.

L4D for the win.

No thanks.
This game should be no more than $20 tops, and I’m not sure it’s even worth that.
