We now know that Punch-Out is being released for the Wii in May, but that’s about all we know. On the next Infendo Radio, we’ll be discussing what we expect from the re-birth of a classic NES title.
Call us and let us know what you want to see in the new Punch-Out game! 206-338-BIGN or 206-338-2446 Or leave a comment below and we’ll include you in the discussion on the next episode of Infendo Radio.

I’d like to see a variety of control options:
Nunchuk+WiiMote Waggle mode
Sideways WiiMote classic NES button mash mode
Balance Board support for ducking/dodging

I thought Glass Joe retired.

I have punch out on the VC and I think it’s amazing.
I really have high hopes for this game. I hope they can add to the game with motion control and still keep the old, simplistic feel of the original.

The biggest thing I’d like to see out of Punch-Out!! is a reason for people who have never played Punch-Out!! to want to play it. I’ve never played any iteration of the game, I’ve never really been interested, and I’m still not all that fascinated. But I want my mind to be changed. I want Nintendo to announce a feature or a control option or a mode that will make me want to check this one out.

I want no cel shading, Wii Sports Mii characters importable as well as their ranking in Wii Boxing. Basically everything that Wii Boxing supplies except fine tuning and power shots… oh a colorful as well as classic characters. (I understand the game not using cel shading is not an option but oh well).

use of 2 wii remotes, wii motion plus, and the balance board. bring back mike tyson. bring in new characters, not just the old ones. and have some online.

andrew, you should at least try the original game, or the original arcade game through mame to see what the fuss was about. if not, there’s very little reason for you to get excited.

remember when they changed the arcade character vodka whatever to soda popinski for the home version. i loved this game and have nothing but high HOPES for it. if it’s as simple as wii boxing and captures the feel of the old punch out characters then i’m on board. if it’s over complicated and nonresponsive i’m over it. oh yeah and who is the real final match in the arcade is was mr. dream right, then mike tyson, and then later replaced by super macho man?

@ AC: I think I’m going to download Punch-Out!! on the Virtual Console so I can see if I should care about the upcoming game. I don’t suppose it’ll hurt my wallet too much. It can really only do good. ;D

I like the original because I played it as child, I doubt I will buy this one for wii. I am not a huge sports fan, the only games remotely close to sports I play are car racing games. Even though Wii is made for boxing and I wish this game well, Ill sit this one out, way better games to drop money on.

I want to see online wifi with the ability to use any of the wrestlers that you have beaten in the game. Basically you unlock them after you beat them.
In other words, 2 player online would be awesome.
Balance board support of course. Levels of difficulty. It needs to take longer than the original Punch Out would if you could actually defeated Mike Tyson of course. Online leaderboards and rankings if they do the 2-player matches.

More than anything, I want Punch Out Wii to maintain the simplicity of previous entries. So far we have seen some returning characters, but I also hope that the number of new characters is greater, and that the new characters fit amongst the Punch Out veterans.
I’m also really hoping that its marketed as something of a sequel to Wii Sports Boxing. I believe it can fit that bill and be very appealing to many Wii players, and I hope Nintendo manages to take advantage of this like they did with Mario Kart Wii.

Only thing I wish for other than double wiimote support is for for the difficulty to stay high so it’s not a cake walk.

I don’t want just Wii Sports Boxing with Punchout characters and visuals. Wii Sports was the first step to show us what we could do with Wii, PunchOut needs to be a large step beyond so that the game isn’t just random flailing of limbs (though some flailing is pretty well unavoidable). The PunchOut games required you to figure out the “trick” or pattern of the opponent, and then counter it. This game should be in that same mindframe. Where is MotionPlus?
Balance Board support would be a nice optional feature for those who have one, as well as online leaderboards and special challenges like MarioKart. I don’t see a Nintendo Wi-Fi logo on that box art though. I kind of doubt online multiplayer will be possible, but we’ll see as it would be nice.

I really just wanna see another Wii game that pushes the hardware like Galaxy did. I think Punch-Out could easily be that game but so far it doesn’t look like it.

I want a gritty boxing game that picks up where Mike Tyson’s Punch Out left off.
Mike Tyson has been arrested and sentenced to jail and it is up to you to bust him out so you can settle your score, once and for all.
Along the way you will learn techniques like jail house face tattooing, and motion plus enabled ear biting. A balance board belly dancing mini game could be used to distract the guards and other inmates as Mike sneaks out in a cart of dirty laundry.

I want Mii’s. With arms. And legs. And detail.

this is fun, but i wanna see online wifi with the ability to use any of the wrestlers that you have beaten in the game.

@superballkeno It’s boxers, not wrestlers. But As I said previously, I totally agree on the online wifi idea.
