Hey guys, it ain’t a plasma thing. I use a 42″ Panny and I think it looks fantastic. Most plasmas are 720p until you go above 52″, I suppose, so the 480p signal isn’t being scaled as much.
I prefer the picture on my Panny over that of my Father in law’s 52″ Sony Bravia LCD, (1080p BTW). The blacks aren’t as rich and there is some smearing during fast camera motion.
Here are the benefits of Component:
Better image because the chroma (color) and luma (black/white) are separate (similar to s-video)
Better than s-video because of progressive scan capability.
This means you’ll get more resolution per frame and better response time from your digital tv because it need only scale the image, not de-interlace it.
I’m anal about these things and only went about three days before getting a pair of cables for my wii. My composite cables are in my laptop bag for the rare occasion that I might take the console somewhere.
For me, Plasma FTW. Its gorgeous.

I fear the RRoD myself, It really really scares me.

have to say guys I will save Kyle the trouble and disagree on the the Metroid controls. So long as you use the Advanced controls, you turn quickly and it is not like Red Steel. As for your hands getting tired all you do when you play is rest your wrist on your knee and point around you don’t have to use wide motions.

Great show guys! As always…
To Scott: The Wii can only use memory SD cards of up to 2 Gigs, so forget about plugging in a 4 Gig SD card in that slot!

…and to Fesworks:
You mentioned that “it is time for Nintendo to step it up!”, but what incentive does Nintendo have to put more effort or to help 3rd party developers make better games?

Joe, thanks for chiming in! I really don’t know much about plasma vs LCD, it was just kind of a passing thought since Blake said he had LCD and Scott and Kyle said they have plasma (I think…). Good to know that’s not what it boils down to and have some clarification.

As for subtitleing games, well, “Naruto: Rise of the Ninja” sounds and sells a lot better than “The Xbox 360 version of a Naruto Adventure Game“.

I’ve been looking for another game for my DS so I’m going with Scott’s recommendation on FF. I agree that the games look goofy but this one intrigues me. DON’T LET ME DOWN SCOTT!

Regarding Pikmin on the Wii, courtesy IGN;
Shigeru Miyamoto:
“I certainly don’t think we’ve seen the last of Pikmin,” he said. “I definitely would like to do something with them, and I think the Wii interface in particular is very well suited to that franchise.”
What Shiggy wants, Shiggy gets. Pikmin 3, in my eyes, confirmed.

MP3 with the advanced sensitivity setting is good enough for me. If you’re getting tired it’s because you’re not using that setting though you guys didn’t mention what setting you were using. IIRC in a past show, Scott mentioned preferring the normal setting.
January 7th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
Blake or Scott did mention a while ago that he was using Standard or Basic setting for MP3 which is like playing Red Steel all over again. Advanced setting is the way to go. It has the smoothest and quickest controls. Turning is fast if you actually know how to do a quick turn.

I would agree with Blake that Wii Remotes are better than analog sticks for FPS. You said on the podcast that Metroid is not a game in small doses but I would disagree… there’s more exploration than there is shooting. You do the majority of shooting on bosses so you’re rarely taking your hand off you lap to point or shake your wrist. Also if you play CoD4, which is a twitch shooter, they cheat a bit by auto targeting when you aim because if you were to use the control sticks to target in a twitch shooter you would lose all the time because you can’t point the crosshairs in time. So FPS on console runs a lot slower than FPS on a PC because the speed of analog sticks can’t match the precision of a keyboard and mouse. In the game The Darkness sometimes it got annoying, IMO, to aim at a light bulb because I may slightly move a little to the left and then a little to the right… or even in CoD4 when you do air strikes and you have to aim the targeted area for the air strike to hit sometimes I try to position it in the right spot that I want and I end up getting shot because I didn’t do it in time but with a Wii Remote I just point and click.
The Wii Remote is the closest thing to a keyboard and mouse on a console IMO and I never understand how people’s hands get tired when you rest it in you lap just like you would with a controller. I sunk in 6 hours at a time on Metroid Prime 3 and my hands never got tired. I’ve only gotten tired playing Wii Boxing.

I’ve been playing a bit of “Medal of Honor: Heroes 2″ lately, and the controls are great. Like GenoBaby said, if you’re sitting right, your hands can rest comfortably in your lap almost all the time. No worries!
I still suck at multiplayer, but I do better with the Wiimote than I would with dual-thumbsticks.

Man I love how you guys have gone back to the original Infendo opening music! Would be cool to have it for a ringtone.
January 9th, 2008 at 12:48 am
I would rather have my arms suffer than use dual thumb-sticks. Wiimote all the way for FPS’s!
January 9th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
I haven’t listened to an Infendo Radio episode in maybe 6 months due to the fact that I found myself disagreeing with almost everything said on the podcast, and feeling like my phone calls comments weren’t really being discussed.
So this is the first IR I’ve played in ages, and I must say – I really liked this episode. I thought that Scott sounded a little less excitable, and both him and Kyle were very honest about Nintendo products, even going so far as to declare that dual thumbsticks were a little unfairly hated upon – an Infendo deadly sin. I just wanted to say that you’ve earned me back as a listener, and I’m looking forward to getting back into this show and hearing what you have to say. Great show, guys.

Guys, heres a suggestion.
DONT USE YOUR ARMS to move your aim, use your wrist.
YOU DONT HAVE TO MOVE THE WHOLE ARM POINTING AT THE SCREEN TO MOVE. Just have your arm resting and your wrist moving. Its not hard or tiring.
It’s either that, or you guys are just too old and lazy…
