Great to hear the team back together!

Just one comment for Kyle: You mentioned you have not seen any commercials for Boom Blox. Turn on Nick Toons Network for 2 hours….you’ll find them.

Otherwise I myself have downloaded FF CC: MLaK (which I have beaten), Lost Winds (I’m really am lost and can’t figure out what to do next), and Dr. Mario (which I have yet to really play a lot).

You guys posed the question regarding friends who have a Wii and what they do for games. I know at least one of my friends bought a system for their son and rarely buy games, but rent a ton. They normally get him all the licensed movie based games. They are also in the category where they have yet to take the system online, which is mostly due to no WiFi network.

Oh I had one more comment:

You had mentioned GH: World Tour and how Activision is really catering to the Wii. I completely agree. However, EA it seems is really taking the casual thing to a new level.

EA not only has stripped Rock Band Wii of all the “necessary” features, but now it looks like they are stripping down three more titles: Tiger Woods PGA Tour, Madden 09, and NCAA Football 09. Unless I am reading this incorrectly, the only versions coming to the Wii for these franchises are “All-Play” versions. Basically that casual feature they added to the core game, has now become the entire game…at least for the Wii. Basically, if you want to play to full game, you’ll have to go to another system.

EA is really dropping the ball and should look at Activision for how to treat the Wii with some respect.

EA has, for the last few years, been a really unreliable video game publisher.

Not only that, but I have had friends that worked (note “-ed”) at EA in the past, and it’s not surprising: They treat their video game designers like absolute crap, are extremely aggressive and hating towards the developers who don’t follow on the timeline (fired on a whim), and only want the game to be released when they said they will release it.

The option for pushing a title’s release date back to fix bugs is nonexistent in their mindset, because they think they’ll lose face if they double back and say “Sorry, but we want to make a good game; we need to delay it for 2 weeks”.

Ha. Lose face? Because of the management system in EA, we get horrible titles. That’s a great way to lose face.

And as stated above, EA’s got some really naive higher-up people that think Wii isn’t a great console to design for, and when they are pressured to cross over to the Wii, they make the choice to give Wii the lightest version possible, just to shut us up.

EA really needs to get its act together and play fair across all 2/3 consoles (I don’t care about P.O.S. 3; it’s already lost).
If it doesn’t, I forsee a company being purchased by a larger software company, and then EA becomes dissolved.

The only BLOOMBLOX commercials that I have seen were on Cartoon Network which is a channel dedicated to children who watch cartoons.

I plan to buy “Boom Blox” as soon as I get the money saved up. (Babies are expensive, and don’t leave much money for games.) It got delayed because I found “Zack and Wiki” for $20.

From WiiWare, I bought “My Life as King” and “Defend Your Castle”. I plan to buy “World of Goo” and “Strong Bad’s Cool Game for Attractive People” (SBCG4AP).

Is there a release schedule for WiiWare games? With boxed games you know when it is coming out months in advance. With WiiWare, they seem to be hoarding games so they can dribble them out once a week, and you do not know what it is until it appears for sale. Tell us what’s coming out, and release it when it’s done, dammit!

    Hey guys,

Good show. You mention that Boom Blox would be a hit if they’d do some TV ads. My wife and I are the sort of adults who still watch Saturday morning cartoons – and we’ve seen two different Boom Blox commercials. One of them was a long ad with gameplay tips. If you aren’t seeing the ads, ask yourself: what TV are you watching? Boom Blox isn’t the sort of game to advertise during more mature prime-time stuff. That’s not the target audience. Watch some cartoons, and you’ll see the commercials.
