Infendo exhorts you to play Boom Blox

I realize this recommendation may fall on deaf ears — Mario Kart Wii and Grand Theft Auto IV are already sucking up gamers’ attention, and The World Ends With You and WiiWare most likely will be soon. Okami is equally phenomenal I’m told.
But you’d be doing yourself a disservice as a lover of single player addictive gameplay to overloook Boom Blox. Don’t just put it at the top of your to-play list — get it now! I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it over the past week, even more than Kart.

A word of warning, though – be careful if you do buy Boom Blox. My arm is killing me this morning after hours of play over the weekend.
There are plenty of other good games on Wii, but this one makes the best use of the Wii-specific controls since… well… Wii Sports. Despite hearing rumors that Boom Blox will go multiplatform eventually, I just can’t imagine it being anywhere near as much fun without the tight throwing mechanic that only Wii can provide.

I’m firmly rooted with Kart, Brawl, and the upcoming Wii Fit. That being said, I want this game.
Will probably wait for the price drop though.

Agreed, I rented this over the weekend and I was very happy with it. Haven’t played all the modes yet, I finished all the Explore stuff and only just started the second set of stages in the Adventure mode. Haven’t even tried multiplayer yet, I hear it’s quite good as well.
$50 feels a bit steep for a full-out purchase, but this is a solid, solid game despite it’s somewhat kiddie appearance. If there is a price drop, say to $35 or $30, this will be one of the best valued new games of the year.

Do not sell the multiplayer short. That is what has me totally addicted. The strategy and easy learning curve makes it the party game of the summer.

Got it last week, playing it, loving it.
Also snagged Okami from Gamefly, and will almost certainly purchase it. Between those, Mario Kart and Smash (which I’m also still playing), I’m loving the Wii quite a lot right now.
Oh, and WiiWare! Right, that’s out now too.

We we’re talking about this in the forums and we we’re all in agreement that the game is great but boy will your arm start to hurt. I myself have lost all feeling from the elbow up.
Side note: If you’re like me and haven’t used the straps from the start. You might want to dig them out and reattach them for this one.

Got this last night after seeing metacritic of 84. My son and I had a blast playing last night. (And me alone after he went to bed.) When Infendo Radio talked about being disappointed in Wii one year later they talked about games missing the opportunity of Wii specific titles and original use of the controls. This game nails it. This is what Elebits wanted to be. This is the sweet spot one year in to the cycle when the programmers have figured out how to program the system to its fullest with the motion controls and a fully realized and original game mechanic.

Awesome game but I had issues with it.
All of a sudden the Wiimote went haywire. It started flickering and stopped responding. Connecting a second made it all worse. It started to buzz and flicker constantly. I managed to get short periods where it worked like normal so I got a great feeling of how wonderful It must be with all set to normal. I have about 20 Wii games and have never had this happen to me before. I went back to the store with it and the manager couldnt help me so it ended up with me choosing another game instead. Anyone else having issues with it? I googled around on the matter but couldnt find anything…….

I agree. I picked up Boom Blox on Friday, and had some family visiting over the weekend; I haven’t seen this much casual and non-gamer interaction since Wii Sports!
I have had a few issues with Wiimote recognition, but only in multiplayer split screen. When there’s just one on the screen it doesn’t seem to be a problem, and it’s not annoying enough to make me return the game. A fix from EA (or whoever) would be nice, though.
My favorite mode so far? Plumbing, with 4 players.

Just remembered; I was inspired to go watch Johnny Lee’s video on head tracking again after picking this up, and now I totally get why it would have made this particular game so much better! So sad it’s gone…

We as Nintendo gamers need to stop making excuses and buy good games like this. The single player game is great and the multiplayer is fantastic. We expect third parties to bring good games to the Wii, and complain when they don’t. Well here’s our chance people. A great, innovative, game made specifically for the Wii. Do yourselves a favor and pick it up. If we don’t….we can expect more PS2 waggle ports and shovelwre garbage like Ninjabread man.
