Yup, definitely looks amazing with every preview I see.
Hopefully, I will actually get to see this with my own two eyes at PAX next weekend…then I’ll really have something to rave about!

would be nice if people wold leave them alone about a publisher.
they can get a publisher whenever they want to. Nobody will turn down this much work.
Any company can see a profit in it. I believe EA could use such a shooter. What do they have right now for consoles to fill that need for Wii in the late first quarter or second quarter next year? Nothing that I know of. If even anything this year. Red Steel which isnt even in the same category as this game, wont be out til second half of the year. They will probably line it up as a holiday game.

Nintendo tends to help smaller indie developers as opposed to big ones. But i am confident they would pick up HVG if they were the last resort. I can guarantee they want such a game on their system. Theres also ubisoft who likes to publish big works and can use such a game in their linup. Red Steel which isnt even in the same category as this game, wont be out til second half of the year. They will probably line it up as a holiday game.

This game is going to be the shame of the industry when it’s released. What I mean by that, is that it will demonstrate how a combination of talent, effort and genuine desire for making a great game, rather than a half-assed cash-in, can push a system, regardless of its level of processing power, further than previously thought possible. All those developers releasing games that look like low-rent Gamecube shovelware should be ashamed that a team without massive resources has made such a great looking game for the Wii, that looks to be a lot of fun to boot.

kudos to high voltage. i hope they become 2nd party. this looks like an FPS that i want to play, which is really high praise because i’m bloody sick of FPS’s.

  5. Pnut says...

I don’t know, the AI looks weak. And the part with the big alien thing seemed to have some noticable slowdown. Graphically impressive for the Wii!

  6. peshue says...

You can see the short falls of the wii for sure. But it does look really great.

  7. Lord Toker says...

this looks fun for any system (before i get comments i said FUN for any system, not graphically superior than any other system).

  8. DmNt says...

    I couldn’t agree more, Richter.

  9. deepthought says...

nice. me likey shoot em up.

  10. Wii Wii says...

    Looking great, for the Wii.

I hope it turns out great.
Will it have online multiplayer and Co-op online?
If so, I will buy on the first day for sure !

  11. Adam says...

This game reminds me of Prey a lot.

  12. Craig says...

It looks cool. The thing I’m impressed with is since the crosshair isn’t fixed in the dead center of the screen, but controlled by the Wiimote, you get a very impressive looking movement. The player points the gun left and the gun moves left and the camera seems to strafe a bit with the movement. It’s very fluid looking.

I agree, get a publisher. I wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo picks up this game and High Voltage becomes the new 2nd party Nintendo developer. I see similarities between Rare’s Perfect Dark and this game.

  13. Brian says...

They may not get a publisher just because all of the conspiring jerk companies who want the Wii to fail. That’s my fear.

  14. Paul 2 (now that there is more than one) says...

Watch it at IGN. It looks way better.

Game looks sweet. There was an article released yesterday or at least this week, Pros and Cons that stated that people wouldn’t normally look forward to such a generic shooter on any other system, but I disagree with it. This shooter has a lot going for it. There are some interesting weapons in the works, a focus on multiplayer that feels good so far, and a level of combined immersion and interactivity that looks to surpass fps on even the pc. That’s what the Conduit has going for it.

I probably should have sent that in to the other site, but I’m both lazy and wanted to explain why the Conduit has me.

@ an above poster – EA’s publishing Call of Duty: World at War right? And Ubisoft owbs the IP Red Steel, am I correct on those facts?

  16. gametaku says...

Urp, Activision does Call of Duty and EA did Medal of Honor Heroes.

  17. HyperSonic says...

Looks like a nice game, hope I can get it.

Also, the “Get a publisher already” category was a nice touch.

  18. DRock067 says...

is there a reason why it doesn’t have a publisher? could their be something wrong with the game that we don’t know about?

  19. gametaku says...

They don’t want the game to be changed. A publisher footing ou money for the development could say something like “Turn this into an on-rails shooter” or “Scrap the mature themes, add in platforming and a Carnival game theme”.

They’ve been contacted by many, and with a fully completed game on their hands almost no publisher will turn them down. They may not have much confidence in the product, but their break even point should be much lower than it normally would be. I’d be easy money. Plus they have a good relationship with other companies like Capcom, and Sega is eager tio appeal to Wii owners looking fot\r a mature experience. Ubisoft would probably want to use some of the games assets like its’ engine or controls, and many publishers just crapping out games or looking to have a presence on the Wii wouldn’t mind to pick it up. he only reason these guys don’t have a publisher right now isfor the simple fact that they don’t want or need one right now. Their reason may be a slapin the face to a few potential publishers, but money is the thing that heals. Game companies can lose a lot of money chasing after gamers, but rarely will they lose gamers chasing after money. (most companies that do badly aren’t chasing after money the right way)

It’s the Xbox 5 years ago or the Wii today!

    It does look fun, though.

  21. Kingbad says...

I cant even tell wats going on. too dark, and the graphics are prbly the only half-decent part about this game

  22. jrr says...

i’m gonna get shot, but it looks boring as f. graphics are fine and all, but what it really comes down to is how does it feel to strafe around, use the weapons, are the enemies challenging and smart, are the levels well designed, does it keep me interested, etc.

sure, in the age of world of warcraft this looks like a thrill rush supreme. in the age of portal it may not make the cut for me in terms of gameplay.

  23. Lance says...

To be honest. This game doesn’t look as good as everyone says. It’s supposed to look PS3 quality but it doesn’t appear anywhere close. Some of the environments I seen in the environs looked like there was barely any texture at all which doesn’t help the game at all.

However I’m still probably buying this game as it’s one of the few core games coming out that look worth my while.

  24. Richter says...

I don’t recall any claims of graphics approaching what is possible on the PS3.

  25. ResidentialEvil says...

I think the game looks good, but I hope it isn’t being praised simply because it’s a game that is few and far between on the Wii; a game with good visuals and isn’t a puzzle/minigame collection or looks like it’s aimed at 12 year olds. I hope it doesn’t turn into another No More Heroes, which IMHO is a decent game but isn’t nearly as good as it’s hyped to be.

    http://www.destructoid.com/interview-with-the-conduit-designer-micah-skaritka-99897.phtml

Here’s an Interview from Desctructoid, apparently Nintendo DID pick up Conduit.
“Over the course of the conversation, he revealed to me how The Conduit was picked up by Nintendo,”

AND FINALLY a FPS that will not WASTE development time on that HORRID peripheral the Wii Zapper — I hope this is what he means by “Wii Shooter”? And on this asinine plastic shell, IMO, it’s one of Nintendo’s worst peripherals to date. To design an accessory that GIMPS your controls and hinders anybody but a child’s movement/comfort, is just stupid. I bought this CRAPcessory for the game and now I regret it. The only comfort I have, is that my friends hated it after trying mine, so did not buy one.

    Anyways, I’m a bit confused to how the game aims, he says this when talking about motino;
“A lot of our weapons have a horizontal path. If you move the Wiimote to the left and right you are actually changing your reticule and the way the bullets travel. You can slice through the air and different directions. Little stuff like that really takes first-person shooters to the next level on the Wii.”

From the video, the game looks like it’s similar to Prime 3 with x and y movement on the screen. If Conduit isn’t this way and they’re using “motion” to change the reticule’s position, instead of the IR sensor, that would be quite lame. I’m thinking he meant IR tracking, since he also refereed to a Zapper as a shooter — hopefully.

  27. Bii says...

    Dammit, where’s the edit button…

Reminds me ALOt of Perfect Dark on the N64, both in setting and possible multiplayer play. This of course is a great thing because perfect Dark was incredible and I spent hours playing it in multilpayer and coop single player.
