Goo-like Tiki Towers confirmed for Dec. 8

Perhaps World of Goo caught your interest, but you prefer monkeys and coconuts in your puzzle games as opposed to globs of slime.
In that case, you’re also in luck.
WiiWare World got the scoop on Tiki Towers this weekend, a new puzzler for WiiWare with a less sticky approach to physics puzzles.
Tiki Towers is a game of construction, destruction, problem solving and monkeys! You must reclaim the islands of your tribe by defeating series of evil enemy chiefs. Work with your monkey friends to build towers out of native materials such as bamboo poles, coconuts and vines. Match wits against enemies bent on destroying your towers and driving you from the island, navigate levels filled with building challenges and deal with unfriendly wildlife and environmental obstacles. Assign monkeys to chant for the BananaMana necessary to cast spells that counter the attacks of the enemy chiefs. Play in either single player or two-player cooperative mode.
Published by RealNetworks, Tiki Towers is set to release Dec. 8 on WiiWare in North America. The puzzler will cost 1,000 Wii Points.

I don’t think it looks awful, and the game could end up being fun.
But having Tiki Towers release after the very impressive and very polished World of Goo is unfortunate for RealNetworks. Even though the two games should have some differences, the similarities are obvious… Since World of Goo came first and was AWESOME, Tiki Towers will have a hard road ahead of it, even if the game is well-made.

Of course World Of Goo came first, it’s the original. All the other similar games are copies. But as they say, imitation is the best form of flattery.
