Ghost Squad coming to Wii

Thursday, May 10th, 2007 at 3:21pm by David

Sega’s hit arcade game, Ghost Squad, is coming to Wii. An arcade style FPS using the Wii Remote? Sign me up. But will it have online multiplayer deathmatch?

[UPDATE:  Ghost Squad is an on rails shooter.  I had read a description of the arcade game online which described it as being an attempt to bring and FPS style of game to arcades.]

You do know this is an on-rails shooter a la Virtua Cop right?

Ghost Squad is indeed an on-rail, arcade style gun game like House of the Dead or Virtua Cop. Even though Ghost Squad doesn’t seem to be as popular as House of the Dead (3/4) or Time Crisis in the arcades, I think releases like this will help people see that gun-shooters should be released on the Wii- a console that’s already built for them, instead of PS3.

So how will you aim? I know a reticule is the obvious answer, but that kind of goes against the whole point of light gun games.

Does there HAVE to be a reticule? I think the reticule is just a graphical effect and they can remove it. If it stays anyways, they just have to alter the pacing a bit and make the straregy being which enemies to kill first. Like Touch The Dead.

I really hope this leads to SEGA releasing House of the Dead, Virtua Cop, and Jurassic Park on Wii. now THOSE would be rockin’ VC downloads, eh? Even Point Blank would do.
