GameStop makes gamer’s Wii dreams come true

I’ve had bad experiences at GameStop in the past, and I’ve let them be known here on Infendo, but today I think the cold, hard lump of ice that is my non-beating heart has begun to thraw. Just a little though.
Infendo reader Casey W. writes…
I just had a pretty good experience at Gamestop. They are having a special trade in bonus when you trade in games towards Super Mario Galaxy or Guitar Hero III (20% bonus). I traded in a ton of Wii and DS games that I wasn’t playing anymore and put it towards those games. On top of the 20% bonus, the manager signed me up for their “edge card” which gave me an additional 10% on trade-ins (and a year of Game Informer for free). Then, their was still some kind of special going on when you traded in Wii games and I got even more trade-in value! Seriously, some of the games I was trading in I got almost 50% of their retail value back in trade! I paid for Mario Galaxy, paid for Guitar Hero III (that’s $90 retail!), paid for Yoshi’s Island DS for Molly, and still had trade-in money left so I picked up Carnival Games for $10!
Like I told the Infendo crew this morning, I think I know how I’ll be getting myself a few games for an upcoming flight to Chicago (and Galaxy for, well, whenever)…

Um… Was this e-mail written by GameStop?

That’s not really as much an experience (good or bad) as it’s just “oh look the system says you get extra monies.”
Slow news day?

Something like that.
I have a few crappy DS games I wouldn’t mind trading in to get Super Mario Galaxy for nothing. Is that so bad a thing to want to write about?

Its eb games up in canada, and I must say out of the 3 stores located in my homecity, I only go to the one.
I have been to all of them and only the one do i enjoy the presence in the store. The other two they are just rude.
Trade wise, I never trade or want to trade any of the 15? games I have on the wii, 6/7 on the ds, 10 on the 360, and 20 somethin on the ps2. Sure i doubt I will ever play all of the ps2 games, but there is just some sentimental value of “i will never get that $80 back”

Eh, the trade in values are fairly decent as long as you’ve got something recent or DS games. In the last few months I’ve managed to preorder and pay off 7 games, including 3 PS3 games and get Bioshock LE for the 360 without spending any of my own money. Although sometimes the trade in values for older games seem wonky, they gave me like $6 for Suikoden Tactics and $1 for Viewtiful Joe. Despite the fact I’ve never seen Suikoden Tacitcs being sold new for more then $10.

I bought RE4 in July for $30 and traded it for $30 last week. They only expense for me is the air bubble packing and postage plus the $1 charge per game received. By my calculations I paid less than 5 bucks to own that game for several months.
I have never traded games in before because in the end, I’m the one getting screwed. I still buy used games at gaming shops. For the record, I am in no way affiliated with the site, I got hooked on it through cheapassgamer.com

Sounds like gamestop marketing worked him over one. Give us a bunch of your old games so we can resell them at 80% what we gave you, track your purchases and then spam your ass with mail.
This post should have a sarcastic tone.
Mario Galaxy is worth $50.
