I guess it’s Guitar Hero World Tour week here at Infendo. Preliminary pricing for Wii is in the poorly copied image above. Placeholder date is 10/27/08. Just in time for Halloween. What do you guys and gals think of a $190 price tag?

I think that may be the nail in the rock band coffin, since it’s only 20 bucks more for wireless instruments and a better drum kit, and what should be a better set list of master tracks.

I refrain from judgment until the announcement of the track list.

Personally I have no interest in Guitar Hero or Rock Band or the slew of other music peripheral games that seem to be flooding the market. I’ve played Rock Band and yes it was fun for a little while, but to me it got extremely boring pretending to play a song. Honestly I think these games exist because they are the only thing giving PS3 and Xbox360 owners an experience similar to Wii…that is to say playing games using actual motions. Why these games exist on Wii is because they sell so well on the other systems. My personal opinion is that Wii Music is going to wipe the floor clean with all these other games. It will be so much more than ‘pretend’. I can almost see Miyamoto now leaning back in his chair with a cigar in his mouth laughing at how stupid these games are compared to his masterpiece.

To be honest, me and my friends got burned bad with Rock Band. Every single instrument broke, including the microphone. Nothing was treated poorly or dropped, we even put felt over the damn drums, and made sure to never rock out too hard on the guitar strum bar. We wound up sending the instruments back, and getting them replaced for free once…then a second time at a cost to us. We wound up paying out the ass for Rock Band, and if I could change the past, I’d have never bought the game.

I shouldn’t feel like I can’t fully enjoy myself with a game that’s supposed to make me feel like a rockstar. I’m waiting to jump ship with GH4 until I hear concrete news and feel for myself that the peripherals are quality builds.

I know that GH4 is made by a totally different set of people, but man, the pain of Rock Band is hard to get past.

Well it’s hard to imagine how they could screw us as much as Rock Band in Europe. I bet they’ll be undercutting EA on that one to really secure the Wii music scene in the territory.

I’ve had it with these motherf*cking peripherals in these motherf*cking games.

I actually have liked these games. Liked them since “frequency”, the granddaddy of guitar hero.

  8. EdEN says...

I remember that Activision said that GH IV (as a whole) would cost lest than Rockband…

@EdEN: How long ago was that? If ya can, post that on the forums if you find it.

As for me, $190? Not horrible. I was willing to bet it’d be at least $200. So it’s a nice little surprise.

Remember World Tour is the DS game and $90 and $190 packages can’t possibly be real… Why would a dinky little portable port cost more than the full blown device? I’m excited about the game, I think if it’s only $50 it’ll be worth a purchase, but there’s no way I’m even considering $90.

Correction… I’m dumb. Guitar Hero: ON TOUR is the DS game. World Tour is still more expensive than Rock Band though… can they convince their audience that it’s worth the extra cash?

Well im kinda dissapointed on the pricetag considering that:
    1. Its freaking 100 bucks more than GH3 on Wii (i understand drums+ development of those and etc. but 100 more seems like a bit too exaggerated in my opinion.

    2. 20 bucks more than Rock Band!!!??? I thought GH was supposed to be the good guy here…

  13. HyperSonic says...

@droop4: $20 is for the wireless.

Also, everyone, it could be $200+. So, I’m actually kinda happy.
