Nintendo bringing GC controler back to Japan

Since the Wii, Nintendo has cut worldwide manufacturing for their previous consoles ingenious Gamecube controller. Since then Wavebirds can be seen going on ebay for $50+ used, mainly due to Super Smash Bros Brawl and Mario Kart Wii’s cube controller support. Thankfully, Nintendo is beginning to manufacture GC controllers once again, this time in Wii white color to please the overall wii presentation. In addition is a longer cord (three meters), and a welcome price point of 2,000 yen ($20).
As of right now, Nintendo is only planning to stock them on shelves in Japan, but don’t be surprised if you start seeing them pop up around here in the next couple months.

Amazing news. I need one. But they should bring back the Wavebird too…

If only they brought the wave bird back out. That would make me happy.

I’d prefer a wavebird, but this is way better than nothing, and is well appreciated. Hope it comes to the states.

I’d pay $40 for a white wave bird right now.

They should replace the GameCube Logo with a Wii Logo.

They should replace the GameCube Logo with a Wii Logo.
Also, the buttons should all be White.

Why they aren’t building more wireless controllers is beyond me.

I’ll have to see if I can cram a classic controller into a gc shell and rewire it, having a wired controller this gen is just silly.

$20? good deal! before the wii came out, they were $30 or $35 for 1st party controllers.

Sweet. I might buy one if they appear, one of my GC controllers R buttons inexplicably broke.

One of my GC controllers had the cable chewed by a rabbit, one of my wavebird has had the analogue stick grip come off.. Yeah I need a new pad.

Import! I never liked the WaveBig, BTW.

I just want a wavebird with rumble.

The only thing I see possibly troubling about this is it might “encourage” future games to utilize the GC controller moreso than trying to utilize pretty much the very reason the Wii is unique anyway, the Wiimote. Even Nintendo is doing this; their biggest game ever is better with a GC controller than a Wiimote, and MK Wii sounds like it many will prefer the GC controller too.
3rd parties already seem to have little clue as to using the Wiimote, and Nintendo is even showing hints, so if we end up with a buch of Wii games that are best with the GC Controller, then I’d have to say that pretty much sucks.
