If you’ve never traveled the depths of the internet to Wikipedia’s GameCube entry, you really should for an insightful read and a reminder of what was for the purple little box. From the article: “Despite Nintendo’s efforts, the GameCube was not very successful in recapturing the massive market share held by earlier Nintendo consoles… As of the end of June 30, 2006, Nintendo has sold 21 million GameCube consoles compared to Sony’s 106 million PlayStation 2 consoles shipped and Microsoft’s 24 million Xbox units sold.”
