I miss you, Game Boy Player

I’m currently playing Super Mario Advance 4 (SMB3), which is great, but I wish I could play it on my TV.
In my effort to consolidate consoles and still play every Nintendo game in 2006, I hastily got rid of my black GameCube after Wii launched. I’m now regretting it–I want a Game Boy Player.
In any case, how much you wanna bet the next DS will feature a Virtual Handheld that sells back catalog Game Boy titles just like Virtual Console does for home games? Wait for it…

You can play SMB3 on your TV .. I do! It’s on the Shop Channel, donchaknow!?
As for GBA games on a “DS2″ Virtual Console, yes .. that’s almost a sure thing. I just wish they’d drop the puck and put GBA games on Wii’s Virtual Console!

^^ David is smart.
Get SMB3 on VC.
But yeah, I have a GB player too. Thats actually part of the reason I kept my GC. That and sentimental reasons. Oh, and for some reason I’ve had memory corruption issues on my GC memory card in my Wii.
Nintendo, please fix it so that the GC can save games to the Wii memory or to the SD card!

that’s pure speculation…
With DS games changed so much that going back with the game catalogue will be at least anachronistic.
There’s no single game from the GBA that I want to play anymore: most of those title (like the one you stated) where themselves ‘upgraded’ version or straight ports from older consoles… so there won’t be any meaning to ressurrect them once more!
If you wants some classic on the go, go buy a PSP, softmod it and play with emulators!!
If you are so sorry about the Game boy player, go fetch an old GC and get the GBP again… It should cost about nothing right now!!

Yeah gamestop sells used GameCubes for $29.99 - at least out here.
A gameboy player might be hard to find though.

No, you can pretty much get used GameBoy Players at any GameStop right now… and they are really cheap! (Like, $10 or $15 or something like that).
I kept mine… there are still quite a few GBA games that have not gotten the upgrade treatment on the DS! Plus, there is still no way to play DS games on the big screen! Nor will there ever be one, since it would require two TVs…

I’ve kept my Gamecube solely for the GBP, though it came in handy when my Wii’s optical drive died. If I remember right there’s a Game Boy Color emulator that works on the Wii using the Twilight Princess vulnerability, so there’s still a Wii option.
Nonetheless, I’ll stick with the GBP for those times I want to play a handheld game on a big screen. I have a modded Atari hooked up all the time and enjoy its games, so why not play GBA games that are hundreds of times as deep?
And SMB3 might be available on the VC, but most of the other games I loved on the GB/C/A aren’t.

Oh, I am like you Blake, sold the whole lot, GC and GBA Player for the Wii, and boy I do miss it sometimes. There’s just nothing like playing the FF Advance titles on a big screen. I mean, graphics is one thing, but pumping up the sounds is something else! In fact, I played most of my GBA titles on the GC: Mario & Luigi, Castlevania CotM and AoS, Fire Emblem… *sigh* Oh well, back to Soldier Blade!!!

Just finished using my GBP to beat Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones. Are ya jealous!?! Now when can I get my hands on a Virtual Boy Player? 3-D images on my TV!….and it’s all red!!!

I never, ever sell hardware. Ever. For any reason whatsoever. Nor do I part with software. The result? A television in my apartment with NES, SNES, N64, and GCN all connected and ready to roll, supported by extensive software libraries for each. I figure, I have them forever because of my hoarding, and can even share them with my kids someday.
My advice: Be a gaming hoarder.

Aw Blake Blake Blake how could you! I kept my black GameCube and Game Boy Player. I am not saying I am special but I am smart. ZING!
I never use my Wii for GameCube game, looks so ugly with the top open and cords coming out. I use my Panasonic Q for playing ma ole Cube games, she’s nice and shiny and chromey and metallicy and lit up blue. Nice yummy yums in my tummy tums make discs spins like a rubba dubs

Look at me posting on this so many months later! I love all my consoles and will never part with them. Like you other cats I have everything plugged into a pelican game selector connected to my tv so I have all my games at arms length. i still love loading an nes game into my NES and firing it up. Old 8 bit graphics displayed on my tv, old 8 bit music playing on my 5.1 surround. Nostalgia never sounded so good.
