Final Guitar Hero World Tour Wii details

Sunday, September 14th, 2008 at 2:36am by Jake

RedOctane has let loose on any remaining details concerning the Wii version of Guitar Hero World Tour. Mii Freestyle mode is now officially confirmed along with more guitar/drum stats.

On a side note…doesn’t it seem like Wii owners are getting the short end of the stick when it comes to these music rhythm peripherals? We are required to use our Wii remotes to power, and operate the guitars/drums whereas the PS2, PS3, X360, and PC versions have the tech built right into the controllers. Not a big deal, but these circumstances might upset those with only one Wii remote.

No offense guys, but how many people really only have 1 WiiRemote? I think just about everyone who has a Wii bought Wii Play for the second controller.

  2. droop4 says...

I agree. Wii is a social machine and most people have 2 or more wiimotes. wasn’t it infendo that reported the avarage number of wiimotes per wii was 2. something?

Besides you,re not going to be playing the guitar and the drums at the same time, will you?

And when u play with your buddies, well guessing based on the fact that you only have one wiimote, youndont have any…

but seriously, if you only have one wiimote then they prolly bring their wiimote with them when they visit you

  3. Poochy says...

Does anyone know if that’s the actual shape of the guitar, or will the Wii versions be shaped like the GH3 ones? I traded my GH3 in at Gamestop, but kept the faceplate in case I’d be able to use it with the GHWT guitar. It would really suck to just have an extra faceplate lying around and not be able to use it. :P

Unlike any platform before it, we’ve been able to track the minimum number of second Wii remotes with unprecedented accuracy thanks to sales of Wii Play. And the numbers are huge. 14.65 million minimum out of 32 million consoles sold according to VGChartz.

I’m still waiting on the UK price.

  5. Jamie says...

Yeah UK price is what’s important.
I’m interested int he midi hookup, does that mean I can hook it up to my PC via midi port and get synthing drums without guitar hero itself? Just an interesting thought.
I’d likely only get the guitar and drums so my 2 Wiimotes is sufficient.

  6. DonWii says...

It wouldn’t be so bad if we didn’t have to pay the same prices for the peripherals as the other systems, since we do have to factor in the $40 remote.

  7. Liraco says...

Guitars that use wiimotes are fine, the drums on the other hand make a good point on lowering the bundle’s cost even further.

What I want to know is what this implies:
“Some features may be limited in the Wii™ Guitar Hero World Tour games.”

  8. David says...

    @ Poochy – yep .. that’s the guitar!

    @ David:

Damn. :( Oh well. Thanks for confirming what I feared…

  10. Targetboy says...

I think the requirement for a Wii Remote in the instruments is Nintendo’s fault, not Vicarious Vision’s. In the preview on the Nintendo Channel, the producer (?) said that the instruments use “Nintendo’s wireless standard” of connecting to a Wii Remote.

That said, you would think they could reduce the price more than $10.

I’m really glad it will work with my GHIII guitar.

  11. gojiguy says...

I dont care as long as it costs less because of it.

  12. J_man86 says...

I, for one, am a guitar hero fan that only has one wiimote. It’s bad enough paying nearly $200 for a game but paying another $80 for wiimotes? That seems a little ridiculous.

  13. waltermh says...

j-man, if you only have one wiimote its because you either dont play games in multiplayer anyway, therefore not needing a second one for this game.
or you dont have friends with wiis, or you werent interested in the game anyway, as i dont see how you can justify $100+ for a system, but not $40 for a second wiimote to a social gaming machine.

but then again, it cant be much of a social gaming machine for you if you only have one wiimote, repeating the earlier statement that it shouldnt concern you to have only one wiimote for this game anyway.

On to the only problem i have. as others have mentioned, we are getting jipped because not having to pay for the wireless device themselves amongst other benefits of using the wiimote should be saving redoctane some money, but that money isnt being passed onto us.

not that i think the games worth the high cost of entry anyway, and how it gets more epensive each iteration. i had as much fun in my youth paying nothing having jam sessions at home with household supplies playing to music i listen to.
and in some ways it sounded better back then too.

  14. gametaku says...

Why is Rockband allowed to piss on the wiimote per peripheral requirement? The bundles and instruments should be lower for the Wii since some of the important tech doesn’t ship with them. It’d be cool if they had their own power supply or way of recharging the wiimotes while in the instrument.

  15. bbelt says...

I notice the asterisk 3 times:
    Innovative Music Studio*
    Battle of the Bands Mode*
Gameplay Modes:1-2 Guitar Controllers*, Drum Kit Controller and Microphone
Could someone please tell us how exactly these features are limited on the Wii? GHIII had some limitations and i was ok with that. But from interviews i read in the past, (http://wii.ign.com/articles/883/883120p1.html) the wii build was supposed to include all features, granted not in hi-def. Some specifics would be great.

  16. J_man86 says...

In case you guys have been under a rock for the past year, they made these little games called Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart. They support an ancient input device known as the GameCube controller. Miraculously I own like five of these, and therefore found no need to buy more wii remotes.

  17. Jake says...

^ So you are going to plug your Gamecube controllers into your GH Guitar and Drums…hmm…good luck with that.

  18. wiiman says...

wow guys. y wood u buy world tour? rockband is sooooo much better. can u do that insane thing on the drums where u hit anydrum u want in world tour? no, u cant. ROCKBAND RULZ FOOLZ!
