Exclusive 3DS Models Coming To GameStop

A triforce of unique 3DS designs have been announced for the coming months, two of which will be exclusive to GameStop locations. These models were presented recently at the GameStop Expo 2014.

First, released on September 19th, will be the Super Smash Bros. Edition 3DS XL. We have already seen glimpses of this, as it had been previously announced for the UK. Available in two colors, red and blue, this 3DS XL features a black and white depiction of a wide variety of the Smash Bros. characters, along with the Super Smash Bros. logo.

The second new model to be released, on October 10th, is an homage to the original NES. Packaged in a beautiful box representing the NES console, complete with audio/video connectors, this 3DS features the NES controller design on the outside. While it is fantastic to see Nintendo paying tribute to its roots, the complaint could be made that this 3DS would have been far more striking had the outside represented the console, and the inside represented the controller.

Lastly, on November 25th, comes the Persona Q: Shadow of the Labyrinth 3DS. A must have for any fan of Persona, this 3DS features imagery from the game on the top and bottom of the body.

All three will be available at GameStop, and the Super Smash Bros. edition will be available at all retailers. Neither the Super Smash Bros. or Persona Q editions will come with the game preloaded.

Not worth my money. Just repaired my original model and am likely going to buy the New 3DS when it comes out.

Yeah, see, I’m a collector, and I REALLY like that Persona Q model, but it’s just not worth it to buy another one of these models with the New 3DS coming.

Actually, I’m waiting to see what the hacking/homebrew scene has to say. They delayed the released of their hack because of the New 3DS, but said their hack can enable region free play (of legitimate games, no backups). If the hack still works on New 3DSs, I will probably be importing one ASAP.
