eShop welcomes Ambassadors

3DS owners, today’s eShop update includes–along with Mario’s Picross and three DSiware titles–a welcome message to all its freshly-inducted Ambassadors. (Toadsworth isn’t actually the program mascot, but he should be: He’s classy, he’s good with PR, and he needs the work.)

“You are a Nintendo 3DS Ambassador!” proclaims the message, which can be found under the “News” tab. It goes on to remind you of the program’s benefits:

Starting September 1st, Ambassadors can download 10 free NES VC games, including Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong Jr., Balloon Flight, Ice Climber, and The Legend of Zelda.

10 free GBA games will be available to Ambassadors by the end of 2011. These include Yoshi’s Island, Mario Kart Super Circuit, Metroid Fusion, Warioware, Inc., and Mario Vs. Donkey Kong.

Nintendo insists these particular GBA games will be Ambassador exclusives.

Even though 3DS takes a huge price drop next week, is this deal enough to convince any of you not-as-early-adopters to pay the higher price to qualify for the Ambassador program by connecting to the eShop before August 12?

And do you think Nintendo will really never sell those particular GBA titles to non-ambassadors?

    I have a feeling that the GBA games will indeed be sold on the eShop. Nintendo likes money after all.

  2. Alvârö says:

    Yes they will sell them later…it would be dumb not to do it.

    I mean, the only thing they’ve said is that “there are no current plans” to release them to the general public…current plans =/= future plans.

    It was enough to entice me to finally jump in, that along with Zelda. I have to admit I’m fully enjoying my purchase so far, but then again that’s because I’ve been playing OOT. I can see why it would have been collecting dust for a while though, there is nothing else on the system I have a desire to buy at the moment & the included software gets old quick in my opinion.

    i wish they would give us an excess of titles and let us choose which 10 we want. oh well 🙁

    I’m tempted to buy the 3DS on Aug. 9 at the lower price from Walmart AND I still would qualify for the 20 free games. http://www.1up.com/news/walmart-offer-cheaper-3ds-early.

    I don’t get it… I already have all those GBA games! (Doesn’t everyone?!?)

    I don’t get it… I already own all those GBA games! (Doesn’t everyone?!?)

    @InvisibleMan:

    Not everyone. I don’t hold onto my old games and systems. I love the idea of having all these classics installed on my 3DS SD card!
