Eathbound now available on the Wii U Virtual Console

The wait is finally over.

Nintendo has announced that the cult-classic SNES RPG, Earthbound, will be available on the Wii U Virtual Console in North America and Europe starting today. First announced for the Virtual Console during an April Nintendo Direct, Earthbound has been on many fans wish list for the online service since its inception in 2006. Aside from the game itself being available for the first time in digital retail form (not counting ROMs, mind you), Nintendo will also be providing the game’s strategy guide online for use on the Wii U’s GamePad.

Earthbound will retail for $9.99. Happy gaming, Earthbound fans.

I have heard SO much about this title over the years that I had to buy it immediately. I really hope that it lives up to the hype. I am also blown away by the amount of games coming to the WiiU in the next two months. I wont have time to play them all, but I will sure try. Thanks for listening to your customers Nintendo.

Almost as Excited by this as I was when Super Mario RPG Finally got a Release on the Wii Virtual Console, after it never got Released on the SNES in Europe.

Shame Mother 3 never came to the N64 as Originally Imagined.

So glad its finaly here! Does anyone know what the reason is for the 9.99 price? Dont think its unreasonable just thought it was odd to see an snes VC game at that price

  5. EdEN says:

@Roboxer: The game is $10 because its Earthbound and we’ve wanted it on the VC for a while. I got it as soon as the Wii U store updated.
