Early reviewers like EA Sports Active more than Wii Fit

If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em. That’s what EA is trying to do with EA Sports Active, the publisher’s “Western fitness” alternative to Wii Fit, which has been the best-selling game every month for an entire year. And from early scuttlebutt, it seems EA may have beat Nintendo at its own game. “I am happy to say that EA Sports Active finally bridges the gap between house and gym,” writes 1UP’s Anthony Parisi, “earning it top honors as the best exercise game currently out for the Wii.” Infendo will have its full review within the next week.

My wife and I picked up this game and I have been very happy with it. The exercises actually get my heart rate up and I finish my workouts feeling more like I was at the gym than Wii Fit.
The journal aspects are great. You track what you eat and drink, your energy levels etc. It makes you think more about what you do in the course of a day to promote good health and fitness.
Kudos to EA for a great exercise game.

This game as great! I don’t consider myself overweight or nonactive (but a little more so than when I was in high school), but I have been using EA Sport for a week now and feel much more energized and have managed to lose 3 pounds!
I’m very happy with this “game” and hope can profit off of if so that they can do more like it with more options and workouts.

Anybody else find it interesting that one year after reviewers and games press gave Nintendo all amounts of shit just for thinking about making Wii Fit and cajoled its release turn around and try to tell the 20 million people who bought Wii Fit against their urging which one of these exercise-type games to buy? Like their opinion will even be valued?

Here’s why EA Active is better than Wii Fit:
- you actually get a decent workout
- there’s a virtual personal trainer to keep you on track
- the Wii Active website is full of awesome information and tools

@ Jeff
Also, most outlets aren’t even bothering to review the game. It’s a shame really because this is a great step forward for fitness games.
Check out Metacritic: 3 reviews after a week and a half? In the same amount of time, Punch Out!! has received 29 reviews.
