E3 leak: New Goldeneye “exclusive” for Wii

“After 13 years, what would you say if a new Goldeneye were coming this fall?” asks an Activision interviewer. “OMG!” and “Yea!” comes the seemingly scripted reply by interviewees.

That’s right. A “new Goldeneye experience” is coming exclusively to Wii this November, developed by Activision. Its unclear if any of the original development team is involved, so is this something you’re interested in? (via Kotaku)

  1. Wii Wii says:

I posted about this remake, not made by Rare, over a week ago in the forums…. with no response.

So, hopefully thats not an indication of the interest for this game? Looks like it could be fun, time will tell how good of a remake it is. I would much prefer to have the XBLA version made by Rare that Nintendo blocked , it would have cost at least half of what this one is going to cost.

In fairness to the forums, anytime I visit there isn’t much activity. I for one would buy this FPS in a heart beat…. unlike most FPS which are your typical “bald headed marine vs aliens/robots/bugs” scenario.

  3. z-nut says:

I’m sorry, but the graphics just aren’t doing it for me.
It does look like a remake of a n64 game.
I can hope that these are just early developemet textures and it will be improved in the final game.

  4. Andy says:

    Yes finally I can’t wait.

  5. Andy says:

    Now he need Ducktales 3.

  6. Andy says:

Opps I mean now we need ducktals 3.

  7. gunder says:

Looks like a $10 WiiWare throwback – let’s make a sequel with the same engine. As much as I loved Goldeneye, it’s terribly dated in both graphics and speed of play.

  8. Andy says:

Ya the graphics are bad but I like that.

  9. Marcus says:

I’m almost afraid to say that this isn’t showcasing any of the “strength” of the Wii. By strength, I mean to say look at games like TP or Monster Hunters Tri. These games pushed the limits of the graphics engine.

Don’t you think that doing a remake, especially a 13-year old remake, of one of the best shooters in history deserves a little… I dunno… more than what has been shown?

For god’s sake, at least give us some graphics at least rivaling those of Quantum of Solace. Even if you can’t quite reach it, make an effort, people.

  10. Andy says:

    Guys graphics are not everything.

  11. Fabio says:

I don’t like the non-armed combat. I am only hoping it doesn’t play a big role.

I prefer the game a bit slower, but with the long combat sequences GoldenEye had. I don’t like those games you just get 2 bullets and die. That is not fun. Running away to reach a better weapon and fighting in circles were what made this game fun for me.

  12. MarcusPowermouse says:

In no way did this get me excited.
    At all.

  13. Ptolemy says:

What the, how the, that. I. Thats enough E3 for me.

  14. Jamie says:

Looks fine to me. I’ve played CoD4, MW2, BioShock, Gears2, Forza 3 etc. After all the “holy crap, that looks AWESOME!” wears off, you need solid, fun game-play to keep coming back.

    My $0.02.

  15. zatara says:

glad its coming back, but man it’s ugly. i’d rather grab the new cod for ps60. (i’m sry, but great graphics can be an exhilarating part of a game.)

i suspect this is not the wii fps i’m looking for…. i’ll just go about my business….

    (moves along)

  16. MetalMarc64 says:

Remake or not, if this is true, then I’m game!

  17. robertp17 says:

Alright! Now all we need is Goldfinger staring George Lazenby and Moonraker with Timothy Dalton! I think Sam Neil may need to remake Dr. No.

  18. Ptolemy says:

Ah Dr. No, yes people, the long and storied James Bond movie franchise started off with the song 3 Blind Mice. Crazy.

  19. gojiguy says:

My interest is piqued. If its well made, has good multiplayer on and off and features WM+ I may pick this is instead of Conduit 2. I still havent bought a Wii FPS.

  20. Bbelt says:

Goldeneye was a gateway drug for me. It lead to an FPS addiction. I’ve been clean for 7 years now, haven’t wanted to touch the stuff. All of the sudden I find myself jonesing for a taste.

  21. Mattiac says:

🙁 Daniel Craig wasn’t James Bond in Golden Eye! Why did they change it?! They should have kept Pierce Brosnan! I usually don’t care about graphics, but these graphics look really bad. Wii can show better graphics than that!

  22. -_Q says:

I’m actually enjoying the throwback graphics. I predict they will actually pull more people for nostalgia than they would for a “great graphics GoldenEye.”

  23. If it is anything like the original Goldeneye 007 multiplayer experience this will be tons of fun! The first Goldeneye on the N64 was a classic and sniping friends or laying sticky bombs on the ceiling in the hallway gave all of us good laughs. Looking forward to this one and actually thinking about pulling out my N64 and playing 007 with my friends again.
