Amazing! I was definitely brought down when I heard from the local store their release date was Sept. 30th of next year.
But November 25th of this year? WOAH!
This has got to be one of the most anticipated holiday releases so far!
This announcement just made my day.

If its not coming out on the VC, then no deal.

oh yeah definite purchase….here’s my money would you like some more?

“# Brand-new dungeons and an Arena mode add exciting new dimensions to this timeless classic” — But is it worth the $30 price tag? I will look at reviews before I get this one. Sounds like a rip-off to me. Square could have easily just put it on the VC, and priced it only at 8 dollars… Oh, but wait, then they wouldn’t be making as much of a profit, and we know how torturous that is for companies…

Yeah, I’m getting this for sure. Even if it comes out for VC, and I even have an emulator with it on some old hard drive, I’m still getting this.
DAMN, look how hard Crono is in that picture.

@DmNt:
“Is it worth the $30 price tag?”
WTH? Are you serious? $30 is cheap compared to the other popular titles which are $35 bucks.
Also, have you ever PLAYED Chrono Trigger in the SNES days?
That game was definitely worth the full price back then, and that was about $30 then.
It’s a worthwhile buy, no matter what the price.

Hmm yes, I see you didn’t read my next sentence. 8 dollars is much cheaper than 30.
“Also, have you ever PLAYED Chrono Trigger in the SNES days?”
Yes. It is the best RPG I have ever played. I have played through the game on the SNES more times than I can remember. I have also played through the fan translated version. (Found on the Chrono Compendium).

The game came out 13 years ago…it’s still 30 dollars. 13 years and no price change. Especially when they could have easily put it on the Wii VC and charged it for only 8 dollars. I’m sorry I got on your bad side, but all I see here is a scam. A scam by Square because their fans are so hungry for anything Chrono Trigger, even a remake, that they will buy anything, as you said, “no matter what the price.”

I must not be a true Nintendo fan because I never played this title. Wasn’t really into RPG’s when I was younger. But now I think I might be interested.

I’ve played and beaten CT a good 70+ times (this includes all of the endings), and still intend on buying this. I just pray that this sells well, enough for them to either report Radical Dreamers, Chrono Cross, or what I really hope for is a third installment (Chrono Cross is RD 2.0) My wishes will fall on deaf ears, but I will never stop wishing for a New installment in the CT world, just like i will never stop hoping for a shenmue III

Actually, Chrono Trigger was $75 when released and it was worth that price. The average SNES/Genesis game launched at $59.99, back in the day. On eBay it goes for much more than that so the DS version will be enhanced and much cheaper than a used cartridge. Sounds like a great deal to me.

I’m torn here. I want to boycott this on principal, but i’m afraid doing so will lower the chances of square being impressed enough with Chrono sales to make a new installment to the series.
I asked for Chrono Trigger on GBA for years, it has for a long time been my favorite RPG, but when Square showed they could do more with the DS, and the virtual console was in full swing, my desires changed. The GBA couldn’t do much more with Chrono Trigger than they are doing - a new translation, a new area, yeah okay - but the DS can do MUCH more, as square themselves have proven. I would rather have seen a remake for the DS and a Port for the VC.
Buying this weak DS port only confirms to square that there IS no business sense in releasing a game for a discount when it will still sell at full price in other formats.
