Nintendo Media Summit 2008 show floor
Friday, April 11th, 2008 at 5:46pm by Jake
Incase you forgot (I did) the annual, Nintendo Media Summit ran all day yesterday and today showing off select first, and third party titles to release for Q2-Q3. No megatons this year besides an “official” press release for, Mario Super Sluggers, and in-depth details on Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness. Nintendo’s main purpose this year is getting the press to play some upcoming “bridge” software, and to push Wiiware toward more big name developers. Many details concerning gameplay impressions are still under embargoed until next week, so look forward to some new media then.
List of titles on show floor…
Wii
- Wii Fit
- Boom Blox
- Samba de Amigo
- Mario Kart Wii
- de Blob
- Rock Band
- Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
DS
- Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness
- My Weight Loss Coach
- Sonic Chronicles
- Crosswords DS
- Space Invaders Extreme
- Zenses Ocean
- Kung Fu Panda
WiiWare
- World of Good
- Major League Eating
- FFCC: My Life as a King
- Pop
- LostWinds
Looks to me like Nintendo is holding back their big guns til Q4…no surprise there.

JEEZ!! No Animal Crossing Wii on the list! All I can say is that this WHOLE LIST is TOTALLY LAME!! except for Wii Fit, Rock Band, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed & the 2 new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games. Nintendo REALLY NEEDS to have a BIG game like Kingdom Hearts to boost their audience to more people. That and Resident Evil 5 & a Soul Calibur 4 wouldn’t hurt either. GET IT TOGETHER NINTENDO!

To the refeence about Kingdom Hearts, a game like that, with Nintendo characters from different popular franchises. NO, not SSB

Forgot Sonic Chronicles, that’s one of the last good games Nintendo’s got going for them among the 5 others I mentioned.

WII-LUIGI$…wow.
Your post is a tad ridiculous. Saying, “Oh, there’s nothing on the list,” when you clearly admit to being interested in several titles.
Don’t forget that Mario Sluggers has been announced as well. These are just *new* announcements. There’s plenty of other games coming out between now and Q4.
Within your crass exclaiming, you claim Nintendo should “get it together” by releasing games to which they have no control over. The Kingdom Hearts, Resident Evil, and Soul Calibur franchises are not owned by Nintendo. These are all third party developers with their own plans and schedules.
Opening your maw and demanding such titles is a waste of energy. Nintendo is doing an excellent job and is producing quality first-party title after the other. If you have any complaints, I would recommend stepping back, growing up a little, and gaining some real appreciation for the industry.

As usual, Nintendo has a horrible line up.

pretty lame. summer drought is somewhat usual though. least i wont be distracted from bia3 and gta4.
wonder if weight loss coach has crossfunctionality with the wiifit?
April 11th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
you are forgetting this is the just summer lineup.
April 11th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Okay readers. Can we please try reading the entire article before making accusations? Yes I know this is the summer line up, thus me saying the key words “Q2-Q3″. If you (WII-LUIGI$) can process that, it means April - September. Yay!
Anyway, this is a way better Q2 and Q3 line up than last years. Sonic Chronicles looks to be a blast, as well as Star Wars (not to mention MKWii and WiiFit).

I can’t really say that I’m overly excited about most of this list (although some of those WiiWares titles sound interesting), so I’m going to hope that the Big N will release some great Virtual Console games during this time.
OK, you can stop laughing now.

… Major League Eating …? what?
April 11th, 2008 at 11:20 pm
Am I the only one that thought Mystery Dungeon was a lame rip-off of Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced? I hated FFTA btw, and would have never bought Mystery Dungeon if I had known it was the same game with pokemon…

WII-LUIGI$ -
Sell your Wii and get a PS3!

To all the whiners:
This is merely to give the press impressions of games that are coming up SOON, if you want new games, WAIT FOR E3 (again… I thought we were over this “wait till May” thing).
Every time I see the abbreviation “MKWii” I think “Mortal Kombat”.
I’m looking forward to LostWinds impressions, it looked like a fun concept.

This makes me sad. We have here a list full of fresh and original gaming concepts, and all people can say is “Where are all the big name games we’ve been playing for the past twenty years? These games suck!” Personally, I can’t wait for at least half the list, and possibly more once I can learn more about them.
April 12th, 2008 at 9:26 am
There’s not much on there we don’t already know about, but still to me about half the list is at the least intriguing.

When are we finally going to get to see more of Crystal Chronicles: The Crystal Bearers? I am really starting to worry about this game. Is it ever going to see the light of day???
April 12th, 2008 at 11:12 am
Did everyone forget that we got to see real screens of Disaster Day of Crisis just a day before the summit. I think that’s pretty big news, for me at least.

but anyway, we’re in a recession right now, so i dont want that many games i want to be announced that i cant afford.

speaking of Kingdom Hearts for Nintendo, I personally can’t wait for the DS game. Anyone know when the release date is for that?
