The famously simple PC flash game Line Rider, will be heading to the Wii and DS platforms sometime in Q3 2008. Developed by inXile Entertainment, Line Rider 2: Unbound allows you to use the Wii remotes IR sensor to flawlessly draw a 2D, downhill, mountain slope to send your character flying. The DS version uses the exact same concept but obviously has you using the stylus to draw your maps.
As of right now the DS version allows you to save and share custom maps with friends, but whether or not the Wii version allows it is still unknown.

This is one of those titles that would work best as a Wiiware download instead of being stuck as disk based. Here’s hoping the “new” features offer up enough worth for a purchase.

I like the line editing on the wii version. It looks just like making paths in illustrator.

“Vectors”. They’re called “vectors”. They could’ve called the game “Vectorider” or something, but that’s too technical sounding….
Either way, the core game itself is a fantastic piece of work. Part of me feels the DS version will probably be more successful at capturing the true spirit and nature of the original.

Wii Line Rider is less compelling, but a portable DS version is win.
