Details Revealed on Sonic Rush Adventure for Nintendo DS

Sega issued a press release today detailing the… details of the sequel to Sonic Rush on the Nintendo DS - Sonic Rush Adventure. Excerpt!
“Sonic Rush Adventure will seamlessly utilise both screens of the Nintendo DS to navigate the high seas in search of pirate treasure, delivering Sonic’s classic high-speed 2D gameplay in the ultimate Sonic handheld experience.”
So, more of the same. Which if you ask me, is a GOOD thing. Sonic Rush was the first breath of fresh air the franchise had had in a long while and, well, delivered pretty much what the press release up there said (which in itself is an accomplishment). Some - including Kotaku’s McWhertor - feel that Sega’s failure to reinvent the franchise for the millionth time heralds an end of days for Sonic. In my opinion, the less they screw with the formula, the better.

Yeah, I was also taken aback when Kotaku said that SEGA needs to change the way the 2D Sonic games play. Those were the best versions of Sonic, and should be what SEGA focuses on. They’re doing a lot better with the home console Sonics, but it still needs a little improvement. But it doesn’t get any better than those old 2D sonic games. I still prefer 3 over them all, but Rush was an awesome game, and had a huge sense of speed. Definitely can’t wait for Rsh Adventure.

Unlike Mario and co, Sonic has not aged gracefully. Sega’s had him on life support ever since the glory days of the Genesis, now that nobody cares about 2-D sidescrollers on consoles anymore. They should probably just pull the plug and let him die with what little dignity he has left, if any.

I care about 2-D side scrollers. Games are what you make of them. Nothing *has* to be 3-D to be considered a success in this day and age, IMO.

No, Chelsea, Sonic HAS aged gracefully. The problem is the world doesn’t revolve around what YOU like. If you open your eyes a little, you’d see that there besides the communities of fans who don’t like the current direction of the Sonic series, there are just as many, if not more, that do.
Sonic has plenty of dignity left. It’s old people like you that drag him through the mud.
And you know what, Jack? If you knew anything about Sonic, you’d realize that Sonic riding on a friggin BOAT *is* Sega screwing with the formula. You should also be worried that Sonic Team isn’t making them, as most of them have quit Sega.

Sonic Rush was the best Sonic game ever made (it beat Sonic 3 & Knuckles out of their 1st place spot in my books).I have been waiting for this announcement since I beat Rush so long ago…
