DLC and online play confirmed for Rock Band 2 Wii

USA Today posted a small article recently that confirms full online features for the Wii version of Rock Band 2.
While unannounced, MTV Games has confirmed that the upcoming Nintendo Wii version of “Rock Band 2” will offer the same online functionality — i.e. song downloads and Internet multiplayer modes — as the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 versions. The PS2 version, however, will not include online connectivity.
This statement has been further backed up when Harmonix confirmed the news via Kotaku earlier today. What does this mean? The battle between Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band 2 has just fired back up for undecided Wii owners. Just how will Wii owners be able to transfer RB1 songs to RB2 still remains a mystery.
A simple Wii storage solution would really solve a lot of these headaches.

I’m still siding with Guitar Hero: World Tour.
We got so shafted with RB1 that there’s no way you can convince me to buy both franchises now.
GH is the way to go, and that’s my choice. RB, you had your chance and you screwed us over. Goodbye RB.

I’m still in for GH, but what I’d really like to know… is will my GH4 instruments work with the RB2 games?
… don’t make me hack it… I’m warning you… .. no really… I’ll do it… don’t say I didn’t warn you. I told you I would, but you didn’t believe me… WHY didn’t you believe me.
arhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

While the announcement is kind of surprising, it’s kind of not. If Rock Band 2 had actualy come out as a gimped version, they basically would be say bye-bye to the Wii console market. You know the one, the maret that is dominating the world. Yeah, that one.

Definitely Rock Band 2. I was sold on Rock Band 2 before this announcement. I absolutely hate Guitar Hero: World Tour’s tracklist, and I love Rock Band 2’s.

Guitar Hero World Tour is still better.

Guitar Hero World Tour for me. Creating my own music along with using your Miis has convinced me to make a purchase over Rockband 2.

Importing Rockband 1 for Wii to RB2 would certainly be a feature that more strongly sells the game for me, otherwise I’m still anxiously waiting to see if GH4 is as good as it’s hyping itself to be.

Speaking of Rock Band… it’s good to be an AC/DC fan today… GH: Metallica may have a run for it’s money.

Sorry Jonkind, but $40 for 18 AC/DC tracks on disc is too much. People complained about GH: Aerosmith being $50 for 41 tracks and I will not be getting either Rock Band 2 or RB: AC/DC Live. The Guitar Hero IV drums are better and I like the slide portion of the guitar better than the small buttons on RB guitars.
